📧 Big Change Coming to Gmail: The End of POP3 Fetching Is Here

If you are like many freelancers and business owners who use a personal Gmail account as a "central hub" to fetch emails from your custom domain (e.g., [email protected]), you need to know this:

Google is discontinuing the "Check mail from other accounts" (POP3) feature on the web.

🚫 The Ramification:

Starting January 2026, Gmail on the web will no longer pull in emails from your external hosting accounts. If you rely on that single inbox to manage everything, that connection is going to break. You won't miss emails—they just won't arrive in your Gmail interface anymore.

✅ The Alternatives:

1. The "Unified Inbox" Approach (Recommended):

This is the easiest fix. Stop trying to pull mail into Gmail and instead use an app that can view multiple accounts side-by-side.

🍎 For Apple Users: Use the native Apple Mail app. Add your Gmail and domain email (IMAP) separately. It unifies them automatically, so you can view everything in one "Inbox" without Gmail acting as the middleman.

1. For Windows & Android Users: Microsoft Outlook (the new free version) or Thunderbird are your best bets. Both are excellent at handling multiple IMAP accounts in a single view. For a more modern feel on Android, check out Spark Mail. Proton Mail is another option, and the interface is similar to Gmail.

2. Server-Side Forwarding (Platform Agnostic):

Log into your hosting control panel (cPanel, etc.) and set up a "Forwarder" to send all incoming domain mail to your Gmail address. Note: This fixes reading, but replying "as" your domain from Gmail is becoming increasingly difficult with new security protocols.

3. Dedicated Email Hosting:

It might be time to move your domain email to a dedicated provider like Google Workspace or Fastmail if you need a robust web interface. Another option is NameCheap, which offers inexpensive and reliable business email accounts.

My take: As someone deeply in the Apple ecosystem, I'm leaning into Apple Mail.

I have recommended that all of my clients use or for embedded videos, as many users will no longer see videos.

YouTube is actively blocking ad-blockers, and that is not a typo. 50% of Americans use an ad-blocker browser extension or have a browser that blocks ads, and YouTube will no longer work with these.

It does not make sense to use YouTube as a business for embedded videos in your websites. Firstly, YouTube has always had ads, and there are ads at the end of all videos. Secondly, many users will no longer be able to view the videos at all.

Make the shift now to a business video platform.

Windows 11 Photo and Paint apps now have some of the coolest Adobe Photoshop AI features, allowing you to remove objects seamlessly. You should check these new tools out! However, Microsoft has no answer to Adobe's incredible Generative Expand tool. But the Windows 11 upgrades to Paint and Photos don't cost anything, which is an excellent option for many.

Have you tried the Windows Photos Generative Erase feature within Windows 10 and Windows 11? It's just like Photoshop -- and we even put it to the test to prove it.
