I know winter has felt like an entire year already, so let’s spring into march with a little less clutter and a little less mental load
we can’t forget how much the visual clutter impacts our mental clutter. so here are 10 things to declutter or tidy before march
1. broken or incomplete toys
anything missing pieces, dead batteries, or that never actually gets played with. if it hasn’t been touched all month, that’s your sign.
2. outgrown baby items
check drawers and bins for anything jack has already sized out of or that you’re realistically done using.
3. the toy overflow zone
that one basket or corner where toys get tossed at the end of the day. reset it and remove anything that doesn’t belong.
4. random papers on the counter
school papers, receipts, instructions, appointment slips — toss or file what you actually need.
5. artwork pile
keep a few favorites, recycle the rest. you don’t need every scribble to keep the memory.
6. lonely puzzle pieces & game bits
if the set is gone or incomplete, it’s just visual noise now.
7. junk drawer surface layer
you don’t need to empty the whole thing — just remove obvious garbage, duplicates, and dead pens.
8. kids craft supplies that are dried out
markers without ink, crusty playdough, broken crayons — quick wins that make a big difference.
9. bags and boxes waiting to be dealt with
returns, donations, random shopping bags — either put them away or move them out.
10. the “i’ll decide later” pile
week 4 is about decisions. pick 5 things from that pile and decide: keep, toss, or donate.
