We’re proud to celebrate Allee Creative founder and CEO Melissa Harrison, who was named a 2026 NAWBO Woman Business Owner of the Year Top 10 honoree, recognized during NAWBO Advocacy Days in Washington, D.C. last month.

Melissa was selected from nominees across the country recognized for leadership, business growth and community impact.

Presented by NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners), this recognition honors exceptional women business owners who have demonstrated leadership, innovation and a commitment to strengthening their communities through entrepreneurship.

For Melissa, the recognition reflects nearly two decades of building Allee Creative. Since founding the company in 2006, she has led the agency through economic uncertainty, industry change and a global pandemic while growing a nationally recognized strategic marketing firm serving clients across healthcare, manufacturing, education, government, professional services and nonprofit sectors.

As Allee Creative approaches its 20th anniversary this fall, we are grateful for the clients, partners, team members and community members who have trusted us, supported us and been part of the journey.

This afternoon, our founder and CEO Melissa Harrison is at the 2026 Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Leadership Conference presenting a session on leading and communicating across the six generations now in our nonprofit workplaces, volunteer corps and donor bases.

It’s a topic she addresses a lot, but it’s really one piece of a bigger picture: the how.

Whether the subject is generational communication, brand strategy, content or helping a lean team do more with less, the questions our team keeps helping people answer don’t change.

How do you carry one clear message to several different audiences without building six versions of everything? How do you look honestly at what you’ve actually got — your people, your channels, your capacity — and shape a strategy that fits both your organization and the people it serves? And how do you quiet the overwhelm and pick the one thing to work on first?

That’s the work we love most: turning “we should probably…” into a clear, doable next step.

Planning a conference or workshop, shaping a team training, or just want to compare notes on communication strategy? Send us an email: [email protected]. We’re always glad to talk through the how.

One of our favorite days of the year — when we meet our annual Allee Creative MarComm Scholarship recipient!

This year’s scholarship was awarded to Lauren Burk. Lauren is a senior at STMA High School and plans to attend Winona State to study business and graphic design. She’s looking forward to graduation at the end of the month, and can’t wait to get settled in with her roommate, start classes and take in the hiking scene in Winona.

Congrats, Lauren! We can’t wait to see what’s next for you.

On Tuesday, Melissa was in Delaware with club leaders from CMAA's Philadelphia & Vicinity Chapter, facilitating a workshop at the beautiful Wilmington Country Club.

A pain point that resonated with many in attendance was that it's rarely a lack of effort when clubs, member-based organizations or associations struggle. It's lack of clarity and alignment. Teams are busy, lean and being pulled in many different directions.

If you're in a similar boat, start by asking these questions:

→ Does your messaging actually reflect what today’s members value?
→ Can members see themselves in your experience—not just your amenities?
→ Are you making it easy for them to engage in the ways they expect?
→ Can you embrace AI tools to streamline processes and free you up to build the human relationships?

The overarching concepts are industry agnostic. Bottom line? To make a change, we need to work through:

👉 Clear positioning
👉 Thoughtful communication
👉 Systems that support consistency (without losing the human touch)

If you’re looking at your 2027 planning with some of these questions in mind, now is the time to start those conversations.

Growth doesn’t always come from casting a wider net. Often, it comes from strengthening the relationships you already have.

When teams focus on:

• staying visible
• being helpful
• building trust over time

growth becomes more sustainable and far less transactional.

This relationship-first mindset shows up in how we think about outreach, partnerships and long-term visibility for the organizations we support.

When everything is a priority, nothing performs.

It’s easy for teams to feel like they have to say yes to everything — every new idea, every request, every “this should be a quick win.” But when you chase every opportunity, a few things happen fast: messaging gets diluted, priorities get fuzzy and marketing becomes reactive.

Before you say yes to something new, try this quick filter:

1. Does this support what we’re trying to achieve this quarter?
2. Does it serve the audience we’re prioritizing right now?
3. Do we have the capacity to do it well, not just squeeze it in?

If the answer isn’t clear, it’s probably a “not yet.”

Sustainable growth comes from doing the right things consistently — not doing everything.
