What makes someone feel like they’re in the right place the moment they land on a website?

I expanded the Linden Grove identity into a website concept to show how the brand could begin to come to life. I wanted the site to feel as warm and reassuring as the care Linden Grove provides.

The top of any homepage has to work hard. It needs to capture attention, explain what the business does, and create an emotional connection right away.

For Linden Grove, the headline “Comfort Begins at Home” speaks to the emotional heart of the brand and the idea that pets often feel safest and most at ease in their own environment. The supporting line adds clarity by explaining that Linden Grove offers mobile acupuncture and integrative wellness for pets with pain, helping communicate both the service and who it is for right away.

The message is reinforced visually through the choice of colors, imagery, typography, and the overall design style. Each of those elements work together to help the brand feel aligned.

A homepage is most impactful when the visuals and messaging support each other from the very first glance.

Once in a blue moon, we get a reminder to look again. 🌕

Tonight, there’s a full blue moon, meaning the second full moon in a single calendar month. That concept inspired this month’s newsletter theme: Worth Seeing Twice.

A second look can reveal what was missed, especially when it comes to your brand.

If the wrong people keep reaching out, if potential clients seem confused about what you offer, or if people question your pricing because they don’t understand the value of your work, the first instinct might be to jump straight into a new logo or prettier website.

But before you fix the surface, it’s really important to acknowledge what’s actually not working. To become the obvious choice, you have to be willing to see what is getting in the way.

A closer look at the Linden Grove logomark.

For this Ta**us-inspired brand, I wanted the symbol to feel organic, nurturing, and layered with meaning. The mark is built from several elements that reflect the heart of the brand and the kind of care Linden Grove provides.

🌱 At its center is a linden tree leaf, tying back to the brand name and the healing symbolism of the linden tree.

💚 The leaf also forms a heart shape, representing compassion and the bond between pets and the people who love them.

🪡 Hidden within the leaf structure is an acupuncture needle, referencing Dr. Evelyn Lin’s integrative approach and the role of acupuncture in her care.

🌿 Surrounding it all is an organic greenery enclosure, which represents comfort, protection, and the calm, restorative environment the brand is meant to evoke.

🐂 Lastly, the top arches of the heart subtly suggest bull horns, an abstract reference to Ta**us.

I love when a logo can be simple while still carrying a lot of depth.

Logo reveal for Linden Grove! 🌿

For the Ta**us-inspired brand in my Brandstrology Design Challenge, I wanted the identity to feel grounded, nurturing, and restorative. The logo system includes a few layout and color variations, built around a palette of deep green, sage, and earthy brown tones that reflect nature, healing, and steadiness.

I explored a lot of directions before landing here, and the second image gives a peek into that process. Sketching is one of my favorite parts because it lets me get a lot of ideas out quickly without overthinking them too soon. If I jump into digital too early, I can get stuck refining one direction before I’ve given myself the chance to explore enough. Sketching helps me stay loose, move faster, and discover ideas I might not have found otherwise.

The final logomark is centered around a heart-shaped linden tree leaf held within an organic enclosure that suggests leaves, vines, or plant life. It felt like the right balance of softness, care, and grounded natural healing for this brand.

Meet the founder of Linden Grove: Dr. Evelyn Lin, DVM, CVA

After years running a traditional veterinary practice, Dr. Lin found herself wanting to care for pets in a gentler, more supportive way, especially those living with chronic pain, mobility challenges, and the effects of aging. As she began incorporating acupuncture and other holistic therapies into her work, she saw how powerful the combination of Western and Eastern medicine could be, not just in treating symptoms, but in improving comfort, movement, and overall quality of life.

That shift eventually led her to create Linden Grove, a mobile integrative pet wellness practice that brings care directly into the home. By treating pets in a familiar environment, she is able to offer a calmer, more personalized experience that helps them feel safer, more relaxed, and more at ease.

Next up in my Brandstrology Design Challenge: Ta**us ♉️

Meet Linden Grove, a mobile integrative pet wellness practice created to help senior pets and pets living with chronic pain experience greater comfort, mobility, and quality of life.

Since this brand is inspired by Ta**us, I wanted to create something that feels earthy and grounded, with a sense of comfort and sensuality that reflects the sign’s nature.

This brand is centered on calm, restorative care for pets and the people who love them, with a focus on in-home support and a more holistic approach to wellness.

The name Linden Grove was inspired by the linden tree, which has long been associated with healing, peace, protection, and strength. It has distinctive heart-shaped leaves and a history in herbal medicine, so it felt like a meaningful symbol for a practice rooted in comfort, compassion, and whole-body wellbeing.

More from Linden Grove coming soon!

The designer and the marks.

Hi friends, I’m Rachel! 👋🏻

I’m a brand identity designer and founder of Composion, where I create thoughtful, strategic visual identities for mission-driven businesses in the human and animal health and wellness space.

Here’s a collection of logos I’ve designed over the years, including client work, concept work, and pieces from my own creative challenges.

It’s always fun to see how much story can live inside a simple mark.

This piece is designed as a simple handout to help bring new people into the studio with a clear offer: first class free.

Even something as small as a card like this is a chance to reinforce the brand. I wanted it to feel bold, clean, and motivating while making the message easy to understand at a glance.

♈️🔥

And with that, that’s a wrap on Inner Flame, the first brand in my Brandstrology Design Challenge! Next up: Ta**us. ♉️

Here’s a snapshot of the Inner Flame website home page design!

I wanted the website to feel just as bold as the rest of the identity. The goal of this (and any website!) is to make the message clear right away: what Inner Flame is, who it is for, and what action to take next.

The hero line, “Reclaim the Flame, Step into Your Power” sets the tone, followed by a short intro to the studio and a clear path to explore classes or sign up for a first class free.

Exciting news! 🎉 I’m hosting a breakout session at this year’s Phoenix Design Week Rooted Conference: “Networking for Introverts: Growing Your Roots.” If you want to meet people and make connections, this is the one to attend!

As an introvert myself, I know how intimidating networking at an event or conference can feel. I’ve gone to PHXDW in past years (and plenty of other events) without making any real connections. Over time, I’ve learned ways to trick my brain into thinking it’s not so scary, and that’s why I wanted to host this session and help others do the same. This breakout is designed to help people meet other people, and who knows... you might even make a new best friend during the session. Don’t miss this if you want to meet people at PHXDW!

Networking for Introverts: Growing Your Roots
📅 Friday, September 19 @ 3:30 PM

Advance registration is open through August 15. Secure your spot and save up to $100!
