Last nights Code Red (Onsolve) came across as “spam” on my cell phone as well as lots of others. We had this issue awhile back, and here is the way to hopefully clear that up. Go back to that call last night and add it to your “contacts.” This should allow your provider/carrier to recognize it as a safe number. Also, as mine did last night, my land line rang at the same time, so I was pretty sure it was not spam

We just finished our first PDA(preliminary damage assessment) meeting with HSEM and FEMA. Several jurisdictions in Swift County presented &3.9M in damages from the May 12th Storm. This info will go to the Governor who will put it with other Counties to reach $9.2M and then send that to Washington looking for a Federal Disasster Declaration, which will bring them back for an “applicant briefing meeting,” to fine tune everybody’s damage numbers, either up or down, and then apply for reimbursement from FEMA after they come out and view some of the damages. It’s a long process that probably will go well into the summer.

Good time to practice your “shelter in place” for severe weather, and you family fire drill and escape plan and reevaluate your meeting place outside your home if you should have to leave. Practice both during the day and at night 👍

Now would be a great time for families that are “ safe” at home to think about their “severe weather plans” Severe weather awareness week is fast approaching. Check you shelter, clean it up, stock it with fresh water.
Review your plans for knowing where everyone is. Check your meeting place if you have to leave your house. It’s a great time to practice your storm drill, and your fire drill and escape plan.
