➡️I became an entrepreneur in my late 20’s and have never looked back. As a newlywed I landed my first big client. I’d never felt prouder or more capable. I b-lined for the closest payphone(!) to call my husband. "We have the down-payment!" I screamed ecstatically. 😀After my second son was born, I decided to stop my twice-yearly trips to Japan. This presented a challenge. As the organizer of the U.S. Pavilion for a major international trade show, not traveling to Japan would require me to rethink my business. So I did. I transitioned from marketing U.S. brands in Japan to marketing Japanese brands in the U.S. .㊗️
“Honey, listen—that house I helped us buy? Let's mortgage it to import cat litter from China.” It wasn’t just any cat litter; it was the first silica gel cat litter ever. 🙀With its success, more products followed and my business grew. When my 3 boys were in high school, and with an empty nest looming, I moved my office home and scaled back my QVC airings to be more present. I started thinking about how things were about to change. What now? I asked myself. 🤔And once again my business answered.❣️
Which brings me to Its Our Turn 2021. There are good reasons why women in late-career, with or without empty nests, are starting their own businesses in record numbers.💪🏾💪 Being your own boss and creating a success of your own offers empowerment, flexibility, financial freedom, and pride.
