The History of Fyresong Publishing

Reading was the first passion that our founder discovered, from there the next logical step to him was to try and write the next generation of literature. This is a step that every writer has at one point and we all look back on our initial works (the ones that at the time we thought were good) and cringe as we look at them with older, more experienced, and more wizened eyes. Zach was no different, he looked back on the works he had begun in his earliest stage of being a writer and threw 90% of them out like many who are new to the craft do; especially after harsh criticisms have been received. When looking back however, Zach discovered the one aspect of the literary world that is perhaps the most difficult and painful part of the entire publishing process for writers. This step is the Editing step, where budding Authors are expected to bare their very souls and the works they have spent countless hours creating to another person, another creative (hopefully), and subjecting ourselves to the torture that is having such intimate parts of ourselves put under a microscope and examined with a fine tooth comb. Through the process of Editing his own work and taking several classes on Creative Writing Zach discovered that he had a third, previously undiscovered passion. That being a passion to provide and work on Editing, both for his own and for others. His desire when Editing for others is to offer a support system to those embarking on their publication journeys, to walk beside them on it. For the first 7 years after he discovered that third passion Zach did most of his Professional Editing for close friends or family members and did not charge for it. Until he went to start his own publication journey. It was in the initial steps of that journey that he discovered the simply outrageous expectancy of large publishing houses that authors spend thousands of dollars on Editing before they would even look at a manuscript, which they then put through additional rounds of Edits. The entire experience left Zach dissatisfied, even angry, and he began researching the career field of Professional Editors. Over time the dream that was the very birth of Fyresong began to grow in his mind and he began to build upon it, pulling together resources, checking the industry standards on a daily basis and running cost comparisons between various Professional Editors in the industry, both those who work for themselves and those who are sponsored by large publishing houses. It took a further 5 years for the dream to become realized in Fyresong Publishing Services, or at least to begin to be realized, though Zach was dedicated. He wanted to ensure that every single writer in the world, if they dreamt of becoming a published author had the means and the resources at their disposal to take that journey. Fyresong Publishing Services was first put together as a plan in 2018 however it was not officially formed until the summer of 2019 and we have been building upon the basis that Zach himself set with the founding. The journey has been long and has rarely been quick, but as the old saying goes "slow and steady wins the race!"
