🤹 It was a fun evening at Churnet View’s Sports Network Event yesterday. Lots of families attended which was great to see. Thank you to everyone who practised their circus skills 😀🎪

Seven more sleeps until next Saturday and that can only mean one thing.....it's the start of the Endon Well Dressing Festival. In addition to the traditional events that take place we have the Muggeridge fun fair, free axe throwing, art & craft stalls, duck race, free children's entertainment (see below) plus lots more. 🤹 Thank you to Rory and Rafferty for inviting me to your 5th birthday party this morning 😀 You and your friends all seemed to have a fab time 🤩 I was delighted to hear one of the birthday boys say afterwards that they rated their party “10 million out of 10!” I’ll definitely accept that as a lovely compliment ☺️ 🎪

🤹 A little introduction for my new followers 🤩

Hi! 👋 My name’s Liz and The Circus Academy, Leek is my fab little business ☺️ I’ve been running the business since 2018: part-time for the first few years whilst I was still teaching but for the last couple of years this business has been my focus and main source of income and I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved 😊

I learned the basics of juggling as a 13 year old at the end of the summer term and it was this which gave me the initial interest and skills which would eventually lead to this business!

Apart from these initial 2 days of juggling tuition I am completely self-taught in all of my circus skills which range from juggling (a variety of items including balls, rings, scarves and clubs) to poi, diabolo, flower sticks, spinning plates, stilts, hula-hoops etc.

However, I consider my USP to be my ability (thanks to over 20 years of teaching) to be able to engage with and facilitate other people (of all ages!) to take part in circus skills, have a lot of fun and learn new skills 😀

Whilst I was still teaching I started a circus skills lunchtime club. The club proved to be very popular and within a year or so an idea began to form in my mind about setting up my own little business offering circus- themed birthday parties.

I set up the business at the end of 2018 so 2019 was my first proper year. It went really well and I got a lot of bookings that year and quite a lot of bookings for 2020. Of course we all know what happened then… 😷 I thought that this would be the end of my business but of course we all came out the other side and I’m delighted to say that my business has gone from strength to strength!

In addition to birthday parties I now offer a wide-range of circus-themed events and activities including school workshops, library events, Scout sessions, markets and family fun days.

I particularly love how my business gets people off their phones and encourages kids and their families to be active and have fun together. I always smile when I see families practising their circus skills together 😀

🤹 It was great to be back at the Derbyshire Dubs weekend today 😀 This is always a great event in a lovely setting, high up in the Peaks just past Tideswell. Thanks to all the families who came along to play today, I had a lovely time with you all 😀🎪
