Over 6 million dogs per year are diagnosed with cancer in the US alone. Of those dogs diagnosed with cancer, dogs over the age of 10 make up over 50% of them. It’s the epidemic nobody wants to talk about. Even vets do not discuss the cause although pesticide use has been linked to causes of cancer in dogs, including lymphoma, leukemia, mast cell tumours, osteosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma, melanoma, and soft tissue sarcomas.

Please write to your member of parliament, councillors, trustee or mayor urging them to introduce legislation to ban pesticide use in your community. Save our furry friends from this horrible disease.

Geordie’s blood test came back yesterday. His White Blood Cell count was about the same, but his lymphocyte levels went down, which is good news. He’s still very healthy and happy and enjoying his time at the daycare. 🐕

Geordie has been doing well the last few weeks. No diarrhea for nearly a month and still walking three times a day.

Geordie’s allergies have improved and needs drops only once a day now. Thank God he didn’t develop uveitis or glaucoma. He doesn’t walk as far as before and needs to stop and rest more frequently but energy level is still good.

I found out a couple days ago that my neighbour Gord’s dog Henry has lymphoma. It has spread to his lungs and internal organs and he has no choice, but to put Henry to sleep. Another victim of pesticide use. Please do not use pesticides on your lawn.

Geordie went to the vet today for a check up. We’re having a little difficulty breathing and I wanted to make sure There were n obstructions in his lungs. That performed an ultrasound and everything came back normal. He is resting tonight after a long day.

People are still using pesticides on the lawns. I see signs all over my neighbourhood here in Pickering. Please do not put any pesticides on your lawn. Despite what these companies like Weedman say., Pesticides are harmful. They do cause Cancer.

Geordie went to the EVC in Toronto yesterday to have his eyes checked for signs of glaucoma and some redness in tissues around his eye sockets. It may be allergies but because of his leukaemia they are keeping him on meds just in case. He is tired after a long day and hasn’t asked to go for a walk this morning.

Before starting your dog on treatments for cancer related condition, check out all side effects. Some meds like Presidone can have serious side effects and dogs can become dependent on them may need them administered for life.

Pesticides give dogs cancer like lymphoma and leukaemia but that is only the start of the health problems. Cancer can lead to autoimmune diseases like uveitis and glaucoma that cause blindness in dogs. More and more dogs are getting their eyes removed after contracting these diseases. Please do not spray your lawn with pesticides.
