Geordie went to the EVC in Toronto yesterday to have his eyes checked for signs of glaucoma and some redness in tissues around his eye sockets. It may be allergies but because of his leukaemia they are keeping him on meds just in case. He is tired after a long day and hasn’t asked to go for a walk this morning.

Before starting your dog on treatments for cancer related condition, check out all side effects. Some meds like Presidone can have serious side effects and dogs can become dependent on them may need them administered for life.

Pesticides give dogs cancer like lymphoma and leukaemia but that is only the start of the health problems. Cancer can lead to autoimmune diseases like uveitis and glaucoma that cause blindness in dogs. More and more dogs are getting their eyes removed after contracting these diseases. Please do not spray your lawn with pesticides.

My dog Geordie was recently diagnosed with leukemia. A year ago his blood tested negative or any infections but just two months ago the vet found markers that indicate leukemia. While it is a slower progressing form of cancer than lymphoma, it still means his life will be shortened. He is still happy and active but has days where he is tired and cannot walk as long as he used to. The only cause I can pinpoint is pesticides that are sprayed on surrounding lawns. PLEASE DO NOT SPRAY PESTICIDES ON YOUR GRASS!! SAVE OUR PETS FROM AN EARLY DEATH!!
