What’s the difference between a refresh and rebrand! I’ll use some building terms because I love a good analogy 🏡

REFRESH: this is like a bathroom renovation. You’ve got the main things in place, but the tiles, floors, a paint, and hardware need some updating.

From a branding perspective, this looks like tweaking the logo, updating colors and fonts, and building out some brand assets.

REBRAND: this is like a demolition job where you strip things back to the foundation and rebuild with new strategy in mind.

A rebrand is where we launch things in a new direction. We can still keep some aspects of the old, but ultimately the overall look and feel of your brand identity will have a very different look and direction from what you currently have!

We know that everything sounds cliché and stupid. We hate that we have to become characters and performers to get in front of an audience to promote our services…yet we keep engaging.

We keep liking and following people (good people) who teach us how to hack the system (codeword for manipulating people’s attention).

Three years ago, I tapped out of social media in a professional capacity. While I wish to say it was for virtuous reasons, it was mostly for personal and health-related reasons.

But in 2026, I have returned to the wild west of social media.

And here are some fresh insights from someone who hasn’t been swimming it for a while…

After taking time away from the public eye of the business world, I’ve come back with a very different outlook and mindset about how I show up in my business.

It’s a lot less “let me make *everything* as perfect as it possibly can be” and more “let’s take it one day at a time. One project at a time. One resource at a time.”

And with an artistic mind that finds meaning in everything (yes, sometimes the negative as well), I would overthink myself into a corner and burn myself out “umming and ahhing” over content, services, emails, everything…

Creative strategy and design is the lane where I can give my creativity and high standards room to run wild, but I can’t bring that same energy to every single area of my business.

And that doesn’t mean I’m failing. It means I’m allocating my limited resources (my creativity) well.

So my rule for this year: I just wanna chill.

I’ll give 100% in one area: my sweet spot.

Everything else in my business will get to a max of 75% and that’s it. I don’t push it. I’m gonna keep it chill.

The more I see people optimising every post for reach, the more I want to do the opposite 🙈

I spent the last three years regaining strength after a health crisis...As I come back to the online space, my lens has shifted significantly in terms of focus.

I want to build slowly and with intention. I don't care how many followers I have on my accounts, so long as those followers are people I can connect to and engage with in a meaningful way.

I am not selling toilet paper, or other commodities, so mass volume isn't the key to growing my business.

My business is built on 1:1 relationships with people who actually need what I do.

An influx of strangers doesn't change that equation for the better.

Why more options isn’t always better when it comes to brand design….👇 

If a designer is giving you 4 or 5 logo options, I think it’s best to take a step back and make sure that you’re clear on the creative strategy. 

If you’re not clear on the direction, ✨ don’t ✨ move into the logo phase of development. 

Too many designs creates too many directions, which creates decision fatigue. Making it very hard to navigate the next step.

As designers ,our job is to listen to the intent of the client, take on board the strategy behind the designs and craft 1 if needed, 2 directions, for the client to choose from so that you can continue to head In the right direction. 

Don’t be a spaghetti designer. Don’t throw spaghetti noodles at the wall until something eventually sticks. 

✨ Front load your design projects. ✨

Make sure that you are very clear on the creative strategy behind the concept and create 1 or 2 logo variations that satisfy the brief. 

Your clients will thank you not having to figure out so many different design options and directions!

Here’s my line when it comes to generative AI…

Factual information? Use it. And then inject YOUR personality into as needed.

Storytelling, art, poetry? Put it down. AI lacks something that only exists between PEOPLE…empathy. AI can only replicate patterns and empathetic tone. But if you feel like your content and writing is falling flat, it may be because it’s hollow.

Even having AI re-write something for you can strip away points of connection. Sure, you can check for spelling mistakes and ensure grammar gets a green tick, but don’t let it hollow out your message.

How are you using AI in your businesses?

I’m Katie. You’re You. My mission is to capture the magically mundane moments of your everyday life. I am passionate about bringing capturing the magical everyday moments that we so often miss documenting: lego table adventures, singing into hair brushes, and most importantly….jumping on the bed. My heart is to capture your family in the most true-to-you way possible.

I like to meet up with my families/couples prior to the day to have a look through your home and familiarise myself with the lighting. I will also take this time to get to know you and your kids so that on the day of the session, we are well acquainted and more comfortable together!

Throughout the session, I will play and engage with the kids to capture their creativity and imaginations! They may even be able to take a few sneaky photos themselves ;)
