The thing that cost me the most money over 29 years of owning Mobile Edge was not a bad hire or an installation mistake. It was the space between my software. Check-in in one place, point of sale in another, customer communication and reputation somewhere else, accounting off on its own. Every one of those gaps got closed by a person retyping something, and people retyping things get one digit wrong quite often.
When your tools do not talk to each other, somebody on your payroll is doing that work by hand all day, and that somebody was usually me.
That is what finally pushed me to build 1sixty8 Manifold after I sold the shop.
I ran a shop for 29 years on software that could not talk to anything else, and eventually built the thing I had wanted the whole time.
