We are thrilled to welcome Andrew Owens as our new Vocal Artist Manager!
A dual citizen of Ireland and originally from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Andrew has been a tenor on the roster of IMG Artists since 2014, where he has collaborated with Sam Snook, Senior Vice President and Head of Vocal, Europe. Andrew’s roster of artists will be announced in the coming weeks. During his time as a professional singer, voice teacher, and passionate fan of classical music, Andrew has developed a keen understanding of an artist’s needs and has taken an active role in their development, as well as casting and networking with members of the industry. As a longstanding presence in Europe and proficient in several languages, he is well-acquainted with the opera landscape on the continent.
Based in Zürich, Andrew has been a member of the ensemble of Opernhaus Zürich since 2021. Whilst there, career highlights have included Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Camille in Die lustige Witwe, Gualtiero in Il pirata, Pylade in Iphigenie en Tauride, Xaïloum in Barkouf, and Guglielmo in Viva la mamma, among others. As a guest artist, career highlights have included, Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Seattle Opera, Don Ramiro in La cenerentola with Irish National Opera, and Aménophis in Moïse et Pharaon with the Rossini Opera Festival.
Matthew Horner, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Vocal said: “I am delighted to be able to collaborate with Andrew Owens in his new capacity as an artists’ manager. Some years ago, after getting to know him a bit, I realized that he possessed the twin skills of passion and persuasion that a manager needs. His ability to identify great vocal and theatrical talent is top class, and he will use many of the skills from his wide experience as a singer to nurture the great talent of the future. I wish him the warmest welcome to IMGA Vocal.”
Sam Snook said: “Having known Andrew for almost 20 years, I have always admired his singing of course, but also, his curiosity for the industry at large, always wanting to know how the sausage gets made, and always looking outside of his personal sphere as an artist. I’m so happy to have him as part of our team, and look forward to many more years of collaboration, now also as a manager.”
Andrew Owens said: “I’m excited to take these next steps with IMG Artists, the company that has overseen my artistic growth these last twelve years. I’m incredibly grateful to both Matthew and Sam for recognizing this skill set and encouraging me to further explore this area of our business, one that has always interested me. There’s been a common thread in my career as a singer, a vocal instructor, and an advisor: advocating for artists’ interests. This will continue to guide my work as I add artist management to these roles.”
