Starting a new business can be overwhelming, especially if a product is involved!

For , they needed a strong brand that would share their story, focus on connection and bring to life the simple moment of sharing a cup of tea.

But as soon as the weather gets warm I find myself I turning to my boyfriend (almost) every night asking about a trip for ice cream (I really need to buy a tub for home 😅)

So I figured, let’s put my current obsession to work! Plus I’m tired of always being serious when we talk branding.

Oh hello! 👋🏼

I realize I so rarely talk about myself that it seemed high time for a re-introduction!

I’m Tasha, cat guardian, lover of food, and will always buy it because of the packaging (IYKYK)

I got into design in 2017 and honestly haven’t looked back. To me, design will always be the meeting place of creativity, psychology, and business.

What really sold me on design? I realized how much strategy and thought that goes into each decision and inspiration. It’s honestly such a highlight for me and I love finding subtle ways to evoke feelings.

So some quick facts about me (because I never seem to know how to talk about myself):

📦 my dad was military so we moved a ton when I was growing up (always in Canada) though most of my teen years were spent around Ottawa, Canada

🫶 when I was young my mom told me ‘how would you feel if that was you?’ and honestly? That stuck with me and shaped almost every interaction I’ve had since

⚖️ I feel like balance in life can be so hard. I want to make the most of each moment, but also have enough quiet spaces to enjoy and relax

🌎 I spent the last decade of my life traveling the world and going on wild adventures in the name of self discovery and I am eternally grateful for all the people and lessons

✨ I feel like branding is our personalities made visual, and for a business it can be serious work - but it needs to also be fun and empowering or it won’t work

💎 business, sadly, is never just business. There are always tons of feelings mixed in, and strategy work can really kick that up - which is why right fit is so important to move through this and extract those golden nuggets

🪩 I sometimes get so excited I start dancing around or singing made up songs about how amazing life is (or the people around me or the animal I can see being cute) if you end up hearing one I’m so sorry

Hopefully I’m not the only one 😂😅 got any questions? (Like places I’ve lived, weirdest food I’ve eaten, how I stumbled into design when living in London, just as some examples)

Your brand is a promise you live out loud, every single day.

You claiming who you are means nothing if your actions scream otherwise.

It’s like saying you’re a vegan and then saying bacon doesn’t count (though, bacon is delicious so I understand).

Your brand isn’t what you declare on your website or in your Instagram bio; it’s the reality you craft through every product, post, and policy.

It’s not about telling your audience your brand story; it’s about them living it and feeling it in every interaction with you.

Miss the mark on consistency or authenticity, and you become part of the background noise.

So let this be your reminder to walk the walk, to put your money where your mouth is, and be the brand you claim to be.

Not just when it’s convenient, but always. 🫶

OK MAY I PRESENT ✨ SONIA V PHOTO ✨

(I’ve been bad at sharing work as it’s been finished, so here belatedly is the brand reveal!)

Branding Sonia V Photo was honestly SO much fun. Not only is Sonia an amazing friend, but she’s an incredible photographer and getting to chat with her in-depth about how she approaches each shoot is a privilege.

Sonia V Photo is focused on capturing each couple’s love story, with all the beautiful imperfections and special details that make them so special. Her photos are timeless, full of love, and make you feel like you’re right there — which is what we wanted to get across in her branding.

Using a classic serif font for the word mark, adding some movement and interest with the slanting V, and finally a rounded frame to showcase her view on the world are the foundation for the main logo.

We also have a simple word mark, to use in smaller settings so that he logo can keep up in the modern world.

For the overall brand, we’ve used hand drawn floral elements and fun layers to really showcase Sonia’s personality as well as the fun, professional work she does.

This project was so fun! A husband and wife duo who help bring people’s alpine home dreams to life.

With him successfully running the project management side for years, it was time to bring her creative interior designs into the business.

We wanted to focus on a brand that was welcoming, but also balanced the two side of professional project management and creative interior designs.

We ended up with a simple, modern logo that layered in natural textures, patterns and an icon that is reminiscent of tile patterns.

We’ve all been there at some point.

Either thinking what we tell people about our brand is all that matters or collecting brand pieces like Pokémon - it’s an easy trap to fall into.

It feels safe, thinking we have so much control over it.

But the reality is that it’s in the little details.

- how we make people feel
- what we do in the little moments
- how we speak, look, act, treat others..

These are the moments we SHOW people who our business is. These are the opportunities to back up what we are telling them and build depth in our connections.

It’s hard to move through loosing that perception of control, but it’s also liberating. Every interaction becomes an opportunity, every conversation a chance to stand in your values, every business shift a creative puzzle to do what makes sense for YOUR business.

And just like in real life, there will be missteps, embarrassing moments, or seasons of vulnerability. But how we handle and move through these are what’s going to deepen that connection and invite our audiences into the journey.

So let this be your permission slip to get to know your business and build connections. Because at the end of the day, we’re all human 🫶

Home Grown is a passion project for an interior design studio looking to transform houses into homes for the whole family to enjoy.

With a livability first approach we wanted to focus on organic, imperfect shapes with the florals and plants combined with a sophisticated word mark - just like the homes they design.

Livable, functional 🤝 stylish, elegant

It’s a bold statement 💁🏽‍♀️

But anything worth doing, is always a little out there 🪐

The Red Sneaker Effect is SO INTERESTING!!! Because it’s research backed (which we love) so it means that it’s something we can rely on to make change.

In the study, the question was perceived QUALITY of a product or figure, and if they knew it was intentionally against the grain they assumed it was better value. 🤯

BUT with everything, we need to know WHEN to use it and IF it’s a good fit for our business.

If we’re going to go against the norm, we need to signal people that we’ve done it on purpose, not go so far as not to be recognized, but also show that we ARE worth the hype.

Branding can be such an amazing tool in visually signaling this to your prospective buyers!! But like always, we need to go deeper than just looks.

How do we do that? With ✨ Brand Strategy ✨
