🔥Why is it still so hard to get new customers? 🔥
Automate your growth by learning how to turn strangers into friends.
If you’ve been relying on friends, family, and referrals to generate sales, it’s time to address the top of your funnel.
You already have friends, family and referrals buying from you, but what happens when those avenues are exhausted? It’s time to go to the next level and start turning strangers into friends.

The steps of the purchase journey are:
1) Awareness
2) Consideration
3) Preference
4) Purchase
5) Loyalty
6) Advocacy.

When your sales come from friends, family, and referrals you’ve had the benefit of bypassing the first two steps of the purchase journey. Those friends, family, and referrals already have a level of trust with you. That’s great!

But it also means that you haven’t learned how to drop strangers into the top of your funnel and get them to consider and prefer you. If you want to scale, learning to turn strangers into friends is critical.

To figure out marketing and sales you have to figure out who your ideal customer is and determine what they really want.

If you want to crack that next level and know how to turn strangers into friends. You’ll need to build a go-to-market plan.

Hey do you remember that song from Loverboy, “Everybody’s working for the weekend"? I loved that song when it came out, and I still love it today.

But it occurred to me recently that the song is from another time. That song was before cell phones, BlackBerries, Facebook, iPhones. constant text messaging, Facebook messenger, WhatsApp, etc. Basically, it was before the digital age.

Now, everybody’s working ON the weekend. The digital age has made everything both easier and harder for business leaders. With the digital age, the barriers to advertising and word-of-mouth (social) marketing went down. So the volume of messages went up. And that in turn made it harder to actually reach your customer. It’s a classic Catch 22.

But the most devastating thing that happened is this.

People without marketing skills now have a way to spend massive amounts of time, money and effort on marketing without really knowing what to do. It’s heartbreaking, really. That’s kinda like giving your teenager the keys to your car without ever giving them a driving lesson. Sure they know about roads, red and green lights, left & right turns, the difference between the gas and the brake . . . but they don’t know how to drive, and don’t really know the rules of the road.

I see it all the time. Recently, when a student in my Masterclass complained that she’d “tried everything,” but still wasn’t seeing any results in her marketing, I broke it down to her this way. There’s a massive difference between strategy and marketing activity. She’s done a lot of marketing activity, but nothing has really broken through because she hasn’t really taken the time to build a strategy.

Marketing strategy, is really business strategy, and there are 3 things that separate it from the workaday activities of marketing.
1. It’s quantum - i.e. it’s not incremental
2. It’s operational - i.e. it effects the entirety of how the business operates
3. It’s in the realm of building belief, not justifying a product or service.

I did a brief podcast about it. Take a listen here:,https://buff.ly/2Lvtaqg

Cheers

Failure in getting marketing results is usually either a failure of strategy or it's a failure of ex*****on.

And by ex*****on, I mean the tactics. Those are the two sides of marketing - strategy and tactics/ex*****on.

To get strategy right, you need to understand 3 things:

1. Strategy is quantum (i.e it's not incremental)

2. Strategy is operational (i.e. it affects not only what you say to your market, but if it affects every business process that you have across your entire enterprise)

3. Strategy is in the realm of belief building - It's about a big brand promise and manifesto.

In the podcast a breakdown Walmart as an example of strategy.

Now tactics is a different thing. For some folks where everything falls apart. Tactics is the actual building of the campaigns. It's building the website, it's building the lead funnel. It's generating traffic. It's doing a/b split tests, sending email, creating direct mail, running billboards, whatever happens to be appropriate for your business. That is the work of marketing and for many folks that haven't been successful in marketing, the reason that they haven't been successful is because they have been busy doing the work of the tactics (the ex*****on) without first doing the strategy.

Folks, only 24 hours to go before registration opens!

Writing this Sunday morning, reflecting on the insane amount of work my team has done to pull this Masterclass together for you.

This is sort of the summary of marketing. People are looking for answers. Businesses want to provide solutions. And sometimes they actually connect. A lot of times they dont.

The funny thing is that making that connection - i.e. getting the customer and the company together really isn't that difficult.

Here's the super simple secret formula:
- Know your ideal customer intimately well (the entire focus of week 1 of the masterclass)
- Build on offer for them that scratches their itch (week 2)
- Send highly motivated ready-to-buy traffic to your offer (week 3)
- Crush barriers to them making a purchase decision - in other words, make it easy for them (week 4+)

Did you catch the little video I did on this? https://buff.ly/2EYBYAU

Once you've done these things, everything starts to be easy.

Have you ever had that feeling you get when you finally get your golf swing right and you start really connecting with the ball. Or when you started getting your S-turns down in snowboarding? It's that feeling when something transforms from challenging to feeling natural, and then feeling effortless. When you've cracked the code, you know it. And then, you just start getting better and better. That's called mastery.

That's what this masterclass really is. It's giving you that 'secret knowledge' to crack the code, and the space to work on it going from challenging, to natural, to effortless.

You really don't want to miss this opportunity to take your business to the next level. I guarantee if once you understand and apply what you're gonna learn in this masterclass, you will reap the rewards.

Yesterday I posted a question, and WOW!

Thank you for taking the time to tell us the ONE THING you believe MUST BE INCLUDED in The Marketing Canvas Masterclass. (If you haven’t responded yet, you still have time!)

Here’s what you told us was most important (so far!):

• 50% - said get more leads
• 25% - said know where to invest your marketing time and money

And the last 25% was split between other responses.

So, I was thinking. Rather than hold out on you, why don’t I tackle the biggest one right now?

If you told me, “Ginger, I need to know how to get more leads,” I’d ask you:

- Who is your competition right now?
- Who is the category king (of competition)?
- Why are they the category king?
- What are they doing to attract customers?
- Which marketing channels are they using to attract customers?
- How are they communicating their offer (value proposition)?

Answer those questions before you do anything else. You might be surprised by how much insight you get into how to get more leads just by answering those questions.

Whew! This is great stuff and I hope this helps get your juices flowing.

If you haven't responded yet, you still can! Click here to share your ONE thing with us.

Today I wanted to share with you about the "In process" work that I did yesterday. I put a survey out to my followers asking what the ONE thing that you need to boost up your marketing education. I received some awesome responses. The reason I asked this question is my clients have been asking me to use my brain of knowledge to teach their teams. So many times I see backwards thinking and backwards marketing.

I want to challenge you today to get to know your customers on a ridiculous level. Go look at your competitors and see what they are offering. Take your offer to the market and get to know your customers. If you want to know what your customers want, go look at your competitors and see what they are offering and how does your product/service stand out from them. Learn why the customer is going to them. Find out what is driving the customer their direction.
