Catching up on sharing some website projects!
I had the opportunity to work with a non-profit organization Fairfax County Crime Solvers this past spring to revamp their website from the ground up. I love a good full rebuild and redesign!
😍✨😍✨😍✨
For this one, Vanessa Capozzi from ieInteractive was the digital marketing genius and project manager, I was the designer and tech lead, and we worked closely with Crime Solvers team members to pull it all together.
The backend tools for the existing site were difficult to use. It was built on a proprietary platform from a webhost, and we knew that rebuilding everything on WordPress would give them better flexibility for growth.
The existing Fairfax website was disorganized and a bit messy, and it didn’t accurately reflect their mission and goals. After several years of just sticking stuff in random places because they needed to get it out there, the page structure & navigation was confusing for users. So we made that a priority for the early stages of the project!
From a strategy and website content perspective, they needed to reach 3 audiences:
🔍 Fairfax County residents - for tip generation & leads
🔍 Community supporters, donors, & media partners - for expanding reach & driving awareness
🔍 Collaborators like their local police department, volunteers, and board members - for executing the group’s mission
Vanessa’s team worked to gather insight and feedback from stakeholders at Crime Solvers Fairfax, built out the page structure and sitemap, and wrote brand new SEO-optimized content for all of the pages. I took all of that and custom-designed every page of the site using their refreshed visual brand.
The end result is a much more effective website, from visuals to an improved user experience!
‼️Information about submitting tips is front and center, with a direct link to their anonymous tip system.
💰There’s now an easily accessible section for claiming rewards for tips that lead to solving a crime.
🌱We added Integration with their donation platform for one-time gifts & event sponsorships.
🧐Users can read about how the organization got started, what the current mission is, and get information on the leadership team.
🗓️There is an events calendar to expand community awareness & participation.
📣They now have an active blog & news section for sharing success stories and other relevant articles.
✨It’s all wrapped in a refreshed & modern design with impactful visuals, a super-strategically organized page structure, and improved management tools for the volunteer team.
