No picture of PT today but we practiced getting in and out of the rehab car, walking without the therapist holding on, and side-stepping up and down stairs. Every time I practice something, I think muscle memory takes over and it gets a little easier.
While I can absolutely appreciate the incredible progress I’ve made, it does concern me that insurance may give me the boot tomorrow. My biggest concern is my husband being pressured to go back to work in the office instead of being able to continue to work remotely and myself not being able to move around the house as needed or to get in and out of bed, recliner, wheelchair, etc unless he’s there to assist. I still have pins and needles from the hip down and have absolutely no sensation of needing to go potty. Right now my body is timed trained to ti**le when I sit on the potty every 3 to 4 hours but #2 needs a lot of medication to keep me from getting constipated and it sometimes catches me by surprise when I smell it and didn’t know I had to go or that it came out. So embarrassing. I wish insurance could live in my body and decide based on that.
Anyway, this is not supposed to be a pity party post. I really do want to celebrate the fact that just a few weeks ago I was struggling to sit on the side of the bed without getting dizzy or feeling like I was falling. God’s strength has enabled me to accomplish what I have and I am so grateful! He has even kept me in a good place emotionally! It shouldn’t surprise me because He is God, but it surprises me because I am me and I am human. I fully expected to have at least moments of feeling angry, frustrated, sad, etc and I have not felt any of that. God continues to amaze me and show up for me!
