World Vision has been apart of my family for about 20 years. I remember as a child my dad and I went to a concert at a local church. Afterward we walked into the lobby to rows of tables with boxes. So many of them. Each box was filled with hundreds of children who were in need of being sponsored.
Being the youngest of 4 I had always wanted a little brother. This was a way to have that. So that day my dad and I picked a little boy from the Phillipines who was 2 years old. Over the years we would write back and forth. Now he is an adult. My family supported him the whole time. I always considered him apart of my family and I still think about him all the time. I have never even met Carlos. Yet he has forever changed my life.
To think there are children right in our very own back yard born everyday who need just as much love and support as Carlos.
Do most people even know where to start if they want to help?
There are so many ministries and agencies available locally that you have never even heard of that play an amazing role in the adoption and fostering process. There is a gap between these services and the people who either want to help or are considering giving their child up for adoption... There is a way to fill this gap...But I cant do this alone either.....

I am going to be attending the Celebration of Life Banquet in Indianapolis this Thursday. I remember being pregnant with my third and volunteering my belly at the Crisis Pregnancy Center to help the staff get certified in using the ultrasound machine.
There is something about when you actually see that life inside of you growing that arrests your heart.
Non Profit entities like this are so very important to the community. They are a gift but their presence is not very well established... I know how to fix that... but I cant do it alone....

Everyone has a story. Everyone battles with the stigma of labels. One of mine was teen mom. I had my oldest at 16. (She just turned 14.) I learned how little there is out there as far as direction and guidance for those who do not have a support system.

Good Afternoon!! This past week on top of being sick I have had the chance to share what I am doing to quite a few people.
As I grew up I was always told its not what you know but who you know and can you work together towards accomplishing a goal?
The need for belonging to a family and relating to others is part of how we are made. my challenge to you is this:
BE THE FAMILY TO THOSE THAT DON'T HAVE ONE.
