Meet La Colina: a Mexican restaurant inside Trailhead Lodge, a modern lodge in Estes Park, CO - and honestly one of my favorite projects lately.

The goal was to design something that felt elevated, but still really warm and welcoming. I needed it to feel rooted in its surroundings without screaming “mountain town logo.”

The custom wordmark has these subtle angular cuts in the letterforms that quietly reference the Rocky Mountain peaks. Above it sits a geometric rising sun (part horizon line, part sunburst) inspired by traditional Mexican craft patterns. Together the elements create a simple sense of place: mountains sitting under a rising sun.

The palette is warm and earthy to bridge that traditional Mexican casa feel with the modern lodge it lives in. And the whole system (wordmark, mark, icons, patterns, variations) was built to flex across signage, menus, merch, and digital.

One of the last puzzle pieces of this project was to create a system of icons that can build on the brand’s identity with personality and flavor. These custom designs include lime wedge seesaws, squirrels eating avocados, cowboys lassoing tacos, and more. A fun way to add more depth and character to the restaurant without adding complicated details to the primary logo.

Swipe to see the logo, concept breakdown, supporting icon system (one of my favorite parts of this design experience), and logo variations I built out for the brand.

This logo was designed to tell a story...and every element was chosen with intention and purpose to convey a special meaning.

The swallow in flight was an obvious but powerful starting point. It’s a direct nod to Craig’s name, but more importantly it represents hope, renewal, and forward motion. The upward angle was intentional — it signals progress, momentum, and a younger, more modern approach to leadership.

The stars were added as subtle guides, symbolizing democratic values, public service, and aspiration without feeling stiff or establishment-heavy. They ground the design in national purpose while still pointing ahead.

Typography mattered a lot. I wanted SWALLOW to feel bold, confident, and unmistakable for name recognition, while the supporting text adds balance, clarity, and credibility — big ideas supported by seriousness and accountability.

Color tied it all together. The blue represents trust, stability, and integrity, while the brighter accent brings in energy and optimism — a signal that this campaign is about moving forward, not maintaining the status quo.

Overall, the goal was a clean, modern identity for a younger candidate with real-world experience

The Wildman Golf brand identity blends a vintage spirit with a clean, modern edge...paying homage to golf's rich traditions while appealing to today’s style-conscious players. The logo features a custom monogram that fuses the initials "W" and "G" into a seamless, flowing mark that suggests both motion and precision—core values of the sport.

The color palette is inspired by the natural elements of the golf course: the deep green evokes the iconic Masters jacket, while neutral tones reflect the sandy textures of bunkers and fairways. Two logo variations offer flexible use across branding materials. The primary vertical logo emphasizes clarity and balance, ideal for print or digital applications. The circular badge version provides a more compact, emblematic style, perfect for merchandise, signage, or social media.

Together, these variations form a cohesive visual system that’s timeless, athletic, and distinctively Wildman.

My latest logo was designed for Hops & Joey Brewing Co., a new brewery nestled in Kangaroo Valley, Australia. It cleverly fuses the essence of location and product into one cohesive mark. At the heart of the design is a stylized kangaroo — an iconic symbol of Australia — whose body is artfully constructed using overlapping hop cone shapes. This visual pun ties the brewery’s name together, merging "Hops" and "Joey" in a smart, memorable illustration.

The logo can be used as a full logo or a simple logo mark. This intentional choice is perfect for a company that requires flexibility with packaging, apparel, signage, and more.

The color palette features a rich deep teal paired with a warm, creamy beige, balancing boldness and approachability. The teal evokes freshness and depth, while the beige adds a soft, organic touch, reminiscent of natural ingredients and the Australian landscape.

Typography choices reinforce the logo’s playful yet professional tone. A bold, rounded sans-serif font arcs along the kangaroo’s path, enhancing the sense of motion while ensuring high legibility. The vertical "HOPS &" and curved "JOEY" create a dynamic, circular composition that wraps around the mascot, leading the eye naturally into the "BREWING CO." tucked subtly beneath the kangaroo’s path.

The layout is well-balanced, energetic, and distinctive — making it equally effective for merchandise, signage, and digital branding. The integration of local identity with craft brewing elements gives Hops & Joey Brewing Co. a unique, storytelling logo that’s instantly recognizable.

Before 2024 came to a close, I was accepted into 99designs as a graphic designer. 99designs is an affiliate of VistaPrint, where graphic designers and other creatives can be hired. It's been a busy few weeks since being accepted, so I thought I'd show nine projects that I have participated and designed for, which includes video games, food trucks, restaurants, retail, luxury brands, golf courses and more!

Being a gay dad has exposed me to a world of other fabulous q***r parents on social media, allowing us to connect and support one another. One of those dads that I’ve connected with over the years invited me to work on a logo/branding for his Manchester, Vermont Selectboard campaign (look closely and you’ll find a nod to his state) - and I couldn't be more excited with the results.

I wish him the best of luck in his race - the world could use more diverse perspectives, ideas, voices, and champions of equity. Give him a follow and support his campaign at westformanchester.com!
