Hustle. It’s the word that we hear most when starting a small business. In fact, the “hustle” mindset is an intrinsic quality of most successful business owners, and the way we take our businesses to the next level.
When we start to feel stuck or overwhelmed, it’s easy to blame ourselves for not hustling hard enough. What we don’t realize, though, is that the same hustle that allows us to succeed is the one that can also burn us out. Learning to delegate, rest, set future goals, and streamline our processes while hustling within our areas of genius makes all the difference in the world.
During a meeting this week, a client asked about applying her brand to a blog. She then began explaining how she didn’t feel like she had the time to commit to it, but knew she “had” to. My immediate response was “Is that something you can commit to right now? Why don’t you give yourself time to get to that point?” It was at that moment the lightbulb went off. Even though it seemed like the “right” move from a business perspective, she did not have the time or capacity to take on a project like that — on top of living her life as a single mom, she’d have to take on a new workload, social media marketing, and publication interviews, among other things. We talked about how to set that as a future goal, and instead focus on creating templates for Instagram content to streamline her posting process and give her the time and space to work toward the bigger picture items, like the blog.
Being able to make space for our clients to set goals and plan for the future is one of the main reasons we love doing what we do. It gives our clients the power to reach for the stars in an attainable way. At the end of the day, our goal is to help business owners take on this journey with confidence and stability, creating the identity they need to take their business to the next level.
