The view from where I sit.

The other day I had the privilege of sitting with a client we have worked with for seven years now. We sat and worked on artwork edits for a couple of hours. We got more accomplished than would have been achieved in many emails. And it was greatness!

I am beyond grateful for the many opportunities I have had to literally sit with a client, side by side, bringing their vision to life. I don't always have this gift of time to make this happen, but when these moments strike, they are pure creative magic. I get the front row seat to their ideas becoming reality.

I am humbled by the trust that even one client would have in our small business, coming back time and time again, over so many years.

Table Cloth or Table Runner? Which one is right for you?

Making the right call on your table decorations isn't always a quick and easy one. Knowing several important factors can make this decision a little easier and a lot less stressful. Consider these things when making this purchase for your upcoming marketing events:

-Do I know what size table will be available at each event?
-Do I want to bring my own table to each event, knowing I can choose a table cloth to fit it every time?
-Do I want to be able to use on any size of table?

Knowing the answers to these questions can help you make the call!

If you own your own table, you know the size needed and can bring it and the matching table cloth and know that it will fit every time.

If you prefer not to carry a table with you to each event and would like more versatility in use, a table runner would be an ideal solution as you can drape it over any table/table cloth. FUN FACT: table runners are considerably more affordable than table cloths!

Do you own your logo? You should.

Time and time again, I hear from prospective clients that they want to work with me but come to realize very quickly that the company that created their logo will not release it to them for use with another company. If they release the logo at all, it often comes in a very low resolution version, definitely not suitable for print. Or, they charge their client for each version of the logo needed. This frustration is defeating for potential clients who no longer want to work with the company who originally designed their logo.

When I work with a client to create a logo, or any artwork, the design belongs to the client, not me. My clients own their logo/artwork, in any version needed. No extra charges. No low resolution images. Have I had clients use art I designed for them, with other companies? Absolutely! Have they always returned to me for future printing needs? Nope and that is aok!

Having a client who loves their artwork/logos is my ultimate goal!

What happens when two 13-year-old boys get caught causing a little neighborhood mischief?

Apparently… you build a business. 😂

At age 13, Colton McEvoy and a close friend got themselves into some ding-dong-ditch trouble. Colton’s dad decided the appropriate punishment was to “donate” their labor to a local lawn guy—for an entire week, with no pay.

But something unexpected happened.

They worked so hard that at the end of the week, the owner offered them jobs for split pay for 10-hour days.

And Colton loved it.

By 16, he already knew he wanted a business of his own. His parents helped establish an LLC, A Cut Above, which he went on to operate for 15 years before selling it and turning his focus fully toward "Total Tree and Land Solutions, LLC."

Today, Colton is still doing what that 13-year-old kid discovered he loved—working hard, working outdoors, and helping people.

And somehow, that isn't enough service for one person. 😊 Colton is also a full-time firefighter, where he gets to make an even greater difference for people in his community when they need someone most.

When he actually finds some spare time, you'll likely find him with his cat and dog or exploring the mountains, lakes and rivers with his girlfriend, Jordan.

Days like today, remind me how grateful I am that Lord called me to work from home. Days like today, when I can work while also spending the day with my oldest grandbaby girl before she heads to kindergarten tomorrow. Days like today, remind me how incredibly thankful I am for this opportunity to be a grandmother, to have work flexibility, to serve others, all at the same time. Today is a great day!

Have you ever heard the phrase that your artwork was too "low resolution?"

Artwork for printing and artwork for screens are two very different artwork file requirements.

Let's talk a little about the terminology.

DPI=Dots Per Inch

Screens/Digital love lower resolution files because they take less time to load.
Printing needs, read that again, NEEDS higher resolution file to print clean and crisp.

Screens work well with 72 or 92 dpi, dots per inch.
Printing paper goods and some other items require 300-350 dpi.

ChatGPT and other AI programs often create images for screens or for digital use, thus they are created at 72 or 96dpi, and unfortunately, do not translate for use in printing. Take a look at the top image. It is 72dpi. Notice the slight blurriness as well as the jagged nature of the letters. This file would print just like that, blurry and jagged.

Screen printing (think shirts and promo items) need a whole new type of artwork designed with lines, not dots. These lines allow the item to scale to any size without distortion, something dots cannot do. To screen print an item, every single detail must be outlined, again allowing the art to scale up or down, allowing it to freely adapt to the printing need.

My daughter Emily Green got her first round of headshots with the amazing Lisa Schwerin of Lisa S. Portrait CO and I snuck away to get my hair done with Lisa's uber talented daughter Hannah Kopec at The FiX Hair Lab!

Small world! None of us knew the other appointments were happening until today! So we had to get pictures of course!

Realizing as I type this, we posed on the same side as our family members! 🤣
