Don't let fraudsters charge you 10x more than your domain registration should cost!

If you ever get an "official-looking" notice like this (or similar), throw it away. Domain name registration typically costs around $15/year, with $5-10 extra if you opt for WHOIS privacy (recommended). The letter looks intimidating in the hopes no one will read the fine print - but if you do read the fine prin, you'll see that this is a come-on.

Scammers prey on people who are unfamiliar with how domain name registration works - especially if they are accustomed to having someone else handle it for them.

Make sure you deal ONLY with the company where you originally registered your domain name. If someone else is handling your domain name and you're still unsure, forward correspondence like this to that person. Make sure you're secure!
