Hello there!

As you may have noticed, we’ve been a little quiet lately. Juggling two careers is not easy and we felt the need to reassess our design business for the first time.

We’ve decided to fully dedicate ourselves to our language businesses starting next year.

So, in our very last post, we want to announce that Designing Translations will be closing its doors in 2022. This was a hard decision, but the reason behind it is a good one and we’re happy about it.

As a fellow language professional, you surely understand our passion for words! Design will always be a very important part of our lives, of course, just not in the form of a business.

A public and special thank you to all our clients for choosing and trusting us since 2016. It’s been amazing to work with lots of familiar faces and to get to know so many other professionals we came to respect and admire along the way.

We wish our clients and social media followers loads of success for their language businesses.

We hope to see you around!

2022 is here and we have a lot of plans for the year ahead! 🔥

In our brand new planner, we wrote several goals we’d like to attain this year.

These are the two most important ones:

❇️ Focus even more on helping our clients and dedicate more of our time to their projects.

❇️ Work on a couple of new and exciting services and products that will hopefully make your life easier.

For these reasons, we’ve decided to be less present on social media and to change the structure and regularity of our newsletters.

So don’t be surprised if you don’t see us very often around here in 2022 – it just means we’re doing our backstage magic with many amazing language brands. 🎨

Any exciting plans and goals on your end?

If you’re a fan of podcasts and mental health is one of your topics of interest, then we have just the right list of episodes for you! 📜

As podcast lovers ourselves, we enjoy listening to a variety of topics, from humor to productivity.

And since self-care is this month’s topic, we handpicked some of the most interesting podcast episodes about mental health for freelancers out there.

Some of them include helpful advice from experts on mental health, while others are very interesting personal accounts of depression, stress, anxiety, and burnout that we can all learn from.

So here they are:

🎧 “Smart Habits for Caring for Your Mental Health with Dr. Elizabeth Miller” by Smart Habits for Translators ➡️ https://bit.ly/3J86bwO

🎧 “Freelancing, Self-Employment, and Mental Health” by The Anxious Achiever ➡️ https://bit.ly/32swOeM

🎧 “How to use social media as a freelance writer without compromising your mental health” by Freelance Writing Coach ➡️ https://bit.ly/33OFUn4

🎧 “Coping with Mental Health Challenges Whilst Freelancing with Amber Bryce” by Fearlessly Freelance ➡️ https://bit.ly/3qggcPP

🎧 “Managing Mental Health as a Freelancer” by Freelance Heroes ➡️ https://bit.ly/3FljZSn

🎧 “Making time for self, health and creativity with Andy Dunn” by Calmer ➡️ https://apple.co/3yS2579

We hope these are useful and that you enjoy them!

Tell us if you know any other podcasts or podcast episodes on this topic you particularly loved. 😊

In our last post, we shared an article about morning routines and talked about their impact on a day of work.

But just as important as kicking off your day on a positive note is ending it in a relaxed and happy way. 🥰

Although sometimes we work in the evenings (especially in the summer, when days are longer and the building is quieter at that time), we’re not very fond of working until bedtime.

The perfect day for us always includes a golden hour before going to sleep. And the reason we call it golden hour is because it’s a very important moment of the day.

Taking that bit of time helps us relax, rest, decompress, clear our minds and sometimes even gets us inspired! 💡

Here’s what we like to do in our golden hour:

✔️ Reading or drawing
✔️ Listening to a non-work related podcast
✔️ Watching an episode of a show
✔️ Playing board games
✔️ Listening to music that makes us feel good
✔️ Checking our favourite Instagram accounts
✔️ Taking a walk if the weather is nice
✔️ Just drinking tea and relaxing

👉 Having a golden hour just to ourselves (together or separately) is paramount to wrap things up for the day in a good mood and with a cleared mind.

And it also helps us fall asleep quickly and get a quality night of rest.

What about you? How do you like to unwind from work? Let us know in the comments below! 🤓

"The beauty of a morning routine? It helps you start your day with intentional self-care."

This quote says it all.

We've found this blog article on morning routines a couple of days ago and we've actually started to implement a few of Monika's suggestions. ❤️

Today, we'd like to share it with you because the way you start your day is super important!

Here you'll find a lot of precious tips, personal lessons, and action plans that will make all the difference in your day.

🔥 The right morning routine can energise you, put you in a good mood, motivate you, help you focus and make you more productive. And ultimately, it helps you lead an intentional life.

Remember: being good at our jobs starts with self-care. 😉

Enjoy your weekend! 😊

Since COVID started, self-care has been a hot topic, but for us freelancers, it should always be brought to the table.

➡️ Taking care of our physical and mental health must be a priority in our daily routines. After all, only when we’re healthy can we be at our best.

Around here, 2021 has been very busy, which at a certain point made us think a bit more about self-care and all the important things we were NOT doing.

Even with a lot on our plate, we managed to implement a few habits that ended up making all the difference. 👌

(Some of them are actually basic, but it's amazing how many basic things we usually miss out on! Don't you feel the same?)

Here are the most important habits we adopted throughout 2021:

🏠 Getting out of the house on weekends (after spending all week in our home office).
♟️Making time for a hobby (chess, drawing, reading and photography ☺️).
👟Exercising regularly (going for walks outside when the weather was nice or following an indoor workout routine on YouTube).
🥛 Drinking more water (or tea when it’s too cold).
💆 Getting a monthly body massage to decompress the muscles.

Which self-care habits do you stick to? We'd love to know! 😃

Are you thinking of sending some Christmas cheer to your best clients this year? 🎄

Well, we've got some good news to share: our online shop is up and it’s already beginning to look a lot like Christmas! 🎁🦌🌟

There you'll find:

❇️ Christmas cards for your translation clients.

❇️ Christmas cards for your interpreting clients.

❇️ Christmas cards for your copywriting clients.

Each card includes:

✔️ A printable version with a blank back (PDF) to send by snail mail.
✔️ A digital version (PNG + JPEG) to send by email or in a newsletter.

Sending a Christmas card is a thoughtful gesture (after all, who doesn't love to be remembered?) and it definitely shows your clients are important to you and that you want to keep collaborating.

On the other hand, it's also a nice way to remind your not-so-regular clients you exist and are still available to work together.

Either way, a lovely holiday card is always welcome. 🌟

Take a look at our entire card collection here: https://designingtranslations.com/shop/ and pick your favourite! ☺️
