Hello dear jobseeker,

I’m not from an HR background, but I have managed my own team before so yeah, I’ve been that person who filters resumes before deciding who gets the interview.

Usually, HR will collect all the resumes and pass them to the manager or team lead (like me) to pick who looks promising. That’s why most of the time, your first interview is with a manager or team lead, not HR.

That’s based on my own experience lah, every company’s process might be a bit different. But after reviewing tons of resumes (and sending out dozens of my own), I’ve picked up quite a few tips and tricks worth sharing.

And honestly… I’ve seen all kinds of resumes some super fancy, some full of grammar chaos (pening bro baca all those past /present tense kelaut), and some that look like they were straight-up copy-pasted from ChatGPT. C’mon guys… AI is great, but don’t copy it word for word, okay? 😂

What the heck is ATS gais?

Mesti korang been applying for job tapi tak pernah dapat panggilan. Salah satu sebab adalah kerana resume korang bukan ATS friendly. So instead of a human reading your resume first... a robot does. Recruiter and HR received hundreds and thousands of resumes daily. So mereka tak ada masa nak go through resume korang tu.

ATS - Applicant Tracking System

How it works?
1. You send your resume. (Mostly through online job portal)
2. ATS scan it looking for some keywords that fit in job role.
3. If your resume has the right 'magic word', it gets a green light.
4. Then only human recruiter will read it.

Secret?
- Use simple formatting.
- Match keywords from the job description.
- Skip fancy designs and weird fonts (robot hate those).

So think of it like korang geng dulu dengan ATS robot tu baru dia introduce dengan human bossku.
