For one, non-secure sites put your website and it’s visitors at risk of cyber threats like malware and cyberattacks.
With non-secure sites, web browsers will warn visitors with a pop up that reads “𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆. 𝑨𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒎𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏." 😬
Then they give you the option to “return to safety” and THIS takes them away from your site ! 😱
Research will show that in various industries across the board, finance being one of them, that almost 50 of these non-secure sites can be found within an hour of search !
It’s also been reported that most search engines are now catering for an HTTPS only search, meaning that non-secure sites will not show up in any searches.
How can you tell if your site is secure or not? This image displays the correct and incorrect links. If your site is secure, your URL will display as https://
If not secure, your site will read http:// and browsers will show “Not Secure” in the address bar.
This can scare people away and this is the last thing you want went marketing your business.
