It was a midsummer afternoon in 2021 and we found ourselves preparing to run a long-term Brand Aid strategy for Hammies Barbershop 💈

At the time, his business had experienced some major setbacks. He had a dispute with his web developer which saw his business' booking system go down, his social media account that was drawing bookings to the business was hacked (irreparably, we should add) and his ability to continue operating was in serious jeopardy.

We put together a strategy that created incremental growth month on month, rebuilt his website and rebranded his business from its previous iteration to something that we felt more aptly fit his attention to detail, quality service and memorable style.

Today, Hammies is fully booked six out of seven days a week with bookings sometimes coming weeks in advance. He has remodeled his shop and has seen an incredible rise in his company's revenue. We are honoured to work with him in developing a business and brand that he and his customers are truly proud of!

We're not biased or anything, but Mitra Mews really is a fantastic place to live or stay 🏠

We've had the privilege of seeing it grow over the course of the last few years from a run down shed filled with disused carpets and junk, to a dusty building site to what you see today. It really has been a labour of love.

In line with the journey of the property, the development has been focused on creating sustainable solutions to the various issues that face the Southern African region. The building is built out of bricks that use 30% recycled polystyrene, boasts a Solaris smart solar water heating and electricity generation system and taps water from below ground to ease the pressure on the municipal grid.

It's not everyday that one gets to visit a mansion in the hills (unless you live in a mansion in the hills, and if so, we're happy for you).

But what we weren't prepared for was the sheer scale of this property. Even though we only got to explore what was fondly referred to as 'The Cottage' - which had more bedrooms than a block of flats and each of them was large enough to house an olympic swimming pool (not really, but it felt like it) - this property, called The Midden was in fact, the site of a comedic massacre.

On this fateful evening, Nik Rabinowitz would take on an entire room full of C Level executives, estate owners and the most la-di-da folks (who are lovely by the way) that Cape Town has to offer. By 'take on' we mean educate in the ways of comedy (at their own expense).

We (and Surka) enjoyed it more than they did, we think!?

It was an early winter morning in Llandudno and the sea was a brisk 8 degrees celsius. Which, for those of us who don't swim regularly is (fu***ng) cold. Excuse our language, but we're sure would agree with us.

The task for the day was to accompany on a mental training mission where he and would embark on a +-1 Kilometre open water swim from Sandy Bay to Llandudno beach. The emphasis should be placed on 'accompany'. We were (thankfully) not going to be swimming.

Paddy and Seabelo slapped on their wetsuits and we made our way down a sandy path to the entry point: a large boulder that (presumably) had been left there especially for Paddy to jump off, because we can't think of much other reason why anyone would leave such a large boulder there.

Needless to say, Paddy didn't disappoint and started off his day with a backflip off the boulder, followed by a +-8 meter drop into the freezing ocean. (Paddy isn't to be fu**ed with, just saying). Seabelo was more cautious, it must be said.

What we learnt that day was that if Paddy is on a boulder, and anywhere near the ocean, make sure that the drone isn't flying too close because there is a likelihood that he'll jump into it on his way down.
