🌍 The Sahara Desert is Growing – A Race Against Time! 🔥

The Sahara Desert, the largest hot desert on Earth, is expanding at an alarming rate growing by about 48 km (30 miles) per year! This is having a devastating impact on nearby communities and ecosystems.

Why is the Sahara Expanding?
✅ Climate Change – Rising temperatures reduce rainfall, making the land drier.
✅ Deforestation & Overgrazing – Cutting down trees and over farming strip the land of vegetation.
✅ Natural Climate Cycles – Long-term shifts in Earth’s climate also contribute to desertification.

How Is Africa Affected?
❌ Loss of farmland – Making food production difficult.
❌ Water shortages – Increased droughts and depletion of natural water sources.
❌ Displacement – Communities are forced to leave their homes.

Fighting Back: The Great Green Wall Initiative 🌱
Africa is responding with an ambitious project. A massive tree-planting effort stretching across the continent, aiming to stop the spread of the desert and restore degraded land.

The Sahara’s expansion is a climate crisis that needs global attention! 🌍🔥

This Afro-Mexican guy probably read all the comments from Africans. 😂😂😂😂 Can you guess which country he’d be from?

RONWEN WILLIAMS (South Africa Goalkeeper) reacts to Africa’s support

🗣️🗣️ “Our defeat today wasn’t just because we didn’t give our best. I believe the lack of support from fellow Africans also played a part. Africa is a continent I’ve always known to stand behind its teams during the World Cup or international tournaments, but in our case, it felt different.

Instead of unity, our loss seemed to bring happiness to others, even within Africa. That was disappointing, because we expected our continent to stand with us in moments like this.”

THE WORLD IS WATCHING! 🇸🇴❤️🫡
Omar Abdulkadir Artan made history as the first Somali referee selected by FIFA for a World Cup.
After arriving in Miami, he was reportedly detained for hours and ultimately sent back to Somalia, preventing him from participating in football's biggest tournament.
But what happened next captured the attention of many across Africa.
When he returned home, crowds gathered at Mogadishu Airport to welcome him. Somalia may not be playing in the World Cup, but the reception showed pride in one of its own who had reached the highest level of international football.
That is what solidarity looks like.
That is what national pride looks like.
No matter the setback, Omar Artan's achievement remains historic and an inspiration to young Africans across the continent.
🌍⚽🇸🇴
