"Being observed'
On Saturday, it was a gift to share my sacred creative space with my mom.
We had tea.
She took photographs.
But most importantly.....we connected.
Not simply as mother and daughter, but as two women reflecting on our own Divine Feminine journeys.
We spoke openly about healing.
About prayer.
About the systems we grew up within, and how many of them delayed our becoming until we found the courage to become radically honest with ourselves.
This is one of the things I value most about my mother.
Her willingness to speak transparently about life's most difficult moments, not as stories of defeat, but as opportunities for growth, wisdom, and empowerment.
This visit surprised me for another reason.
For much of my life, I have experienced the pain of being misunderstood—to the point where my intentions have sometimes been distorted.
Yet this weekend, something beautiful happened.
My partner and my mother, independently of one another, shared the very same observation with me.
Neither knew what the other had said.
Because they arrived at the same truth separately, I chose to include their insight within a deeply personal process that I have never allowed anyone else to witness.
The timing felt right.
The space felt safe.
Their observations became a gift rather than something to defend against.
That moment taught me something I don't want to forget.
Beautiful things happen when people choose vulnerability over certainty.
When love is present...
When care is genuine...
Even uncomfortable truths can become acts of healing.
On Sunday, I completed one of the most laborious parts of my practice.
Preparing, soaking, cleaning and restoring the countless tools and containers I use throughout my process.
It isn't glamorous.
It isn't exciting.
But it is part of the work.
My commitment to an eco-conscious way of living isn't something reserved for my finished artworks.
It exists within the process itself.
Almost everything is cleaned, preserved, repurposed and given another opportunity to serve.
That, too, is part of my art.
This weekend also revealed something else.
My life has a system.
And every system has principles.
Many of those principles only become visible when I slow down enough to observe them.
Some are revealed through the work itself.
Others are reflected back to me through the people I trust most.
Both are equally valuable.
Today is Monday.
I feel prepared.
Hermetically.
Within.
Without.
And all around me.
My materials may become depleted.
My tools may wear with use.
But neither should diminish my process.
Nor my creativity.
Nor my spirit.
Preparation is respect.
For the work.
For the journey.
And for myself.
Because what we care about deserves the greatest opportunity to exist as fully as it can...
Regardless of how much—or how little—we have.
