When we started this business, Liam and Charné were in very different places in their lives.

Since then, the business has grown, changed cities, rebranded, evolved and become something completely different from what we first imagined.

What many people may not know is that we became co-directors of our company only a few months after we started dating. And in a few weeks, we’re getting married.

Soon, Good Things Marketing will officially be run by a husband-and-wife team, which feels pretty epic.

As we’ve changed, the business has changed with us. We’ve refined our services, rebuilt our brand, changed how we work and become much clearer about the kind of business we want to build.

The biggest thing we’ve realised is that our business is personal.

Our clients choose to work with us because of the way we think, the way we care and the way we show up. Good Things Marketing isn’t separate from who we are. In so many ways, it is us.

So, as the business enters its next chapter, we’re going to start showing up here more too.

We’ve been quiet on social media for a while, and we wanted to share why.

A little over a month ago, our Strategic Director, Liam, was travelling with our developer and business partner, Matt Betts of Wizard Dev House, when Matt tragically passed away in an accident.

Matt was far more than a colleague. He was Liam’s best friend, one of the groomsmen for our upcoming wedding, and someone who played an important role in both our lives and our business.

The loss is impossible to put into words, but our hearts are especially with Matt’s wife, Chelsea, and their baby boy, Felix. Matt had recently married his childhood sweetheart, and they had welcomed Felix less than two months before the accident. Felix was also born prematurely, making an already overwhelming time even more difficult.

Chelsea has worked alongside us on several projects over the years, contributing photography and illustration work before stepping away to care for their new baby. She and Felix are now facing an unimaginable emotional and financial burden.

As business owners, we are asking our fellow business owners, clients, friends and community to please consider donating. Funds are being raised to help Chelsea and Felix navigate the many challenges ahead and provide them with some financial support over the next year.
