Team South Africa has had a commendable performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, securing a total of six medals so far. Highlights include a silver medal from Jo-Ane van Dyk in the women's javelin with a throw of 63.93m. The men's 4x400m relay team set a new national record, finishing fifth in the final. Other notable performances include Elroy Galant's 11th place in the men's marathon and Hamish Lovemore's victory in the 1000m B-Final of the canoeing event, placing him ninth overall.

South Africa currently ranks 40th in the overall medal standings, with one gold, three silvers, and two bronzes​ (The South African)​ (SA News).

Veteran actress and GQ Men of the Year 2022 Lifetime Achievement of the Year Award winner Connie Chiume passed away today at the age of 72.

The legendary Chiume started her journey in showbiz in 1977 when she joined Sola Sola, a musical show that toured Israel and Greece.

Born in Welkom, she was a qualified nurse and teacher. Unfortunately, during those days, acting and singing were frowned upon and not considered as a career. Chiume began her acting career with roles in Porgy and Bess, Ipi Ntombi, and Little Shop of Horrors.

She is known for her film roles in Black Panther, Black Is King, and Blessers. On television, she appeared in Zone 14, Rhythm City, Gomora, and many more. Mam’ Connie's career in entertainment industry spanned for over four decades and is one of the best talents this South Africa and Africa has ever produced.
