What better way to celebrate HUMAN RIGHTS DAY on Saturday, 21 March, than to join performers, both legendary and new, to honour the desegregation of our society and theatrical stages!

Beloved stage legends AMANDA STRYDOM, THEMBI MTSHALI-JONES and LOUKMAAN ADAMS, together with NUUR LEEMAN, will take you on a journey of South Africa’s theatrical and musical heritage - from the segregated stages of the past to the vibrant, multicultural present.

A special guest appearance by inspirational dancer and Britain’s Got Talent finalist MUSA M***A is not to be missed.

With musical direction by well-known STEFAN LOMBARD and a live band led by BLAKE HELLABY, the evening will pulse with the sounds of Ghoema, Marabi and Cape Jazz, as well as African, Afrikaans and folk influences.

Produced by ELVIS SIBEKO, whose recent production Kingdom Of Ubuntu played to standing ovations, and co-directed by creative icons AVIVA PELHAM and BASIL APPOLLIS, this rich tapestry of songs and stories remembers the past and sings to the future.

What a joyful, celebratory evening it's going to be. Catch one of the songs below.

Booking is through Webtickets.

SHE IS MANDLAKAZI.
THE STRENGTH OF THE KINGDOM.

Stepping into the role of QUEEN YEMA in THE KINGDOM OF UBUNTU The Musical - In Concert is acclaimed opera powerhouse ANN MASINA.

She is a formidable vocal force who commands opera houses worldwide. She moves effortlessly between opera, classical, gospel, jazz and contemporary performance. From Grammy-winning stages with the Soweto Gospel Choir to global productions with William Kentridge, her artistry carries authority, grace and ancestral power.

She embodies Mandlakazi, the Queen Mother, the unbreakable voice of order, and the spiritual shield of the realm. When chaos rises, Mandlakazi speaks and the storm bows.

This is not just performance. This is ancestral authority.

I am delighted to be part of the marketing team on an epic new musical being presented at Artscape Opera House in March. For lovers of glorious music, classical and indigenous orchestration, inspired dance and enthralling storytelling, this one is for you!

A spectacular evening with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra; the premier CPO AFRI-ARTS CHOIR vocal ensemble; an indigenous orchestra led by PROFESSOR EMERITUS DIZU PLAATJIES; and music and opera sensations BONGIWE NAKANI-MCETYWA (Wiener Staatsoper) and ANN MASINA (Soweto Gospel Choir).

Starring Mbuso Khoza (Umkhokha: The Curse), Mbulelo Grootboom (Skemerdans, Niggies, White Wedding), Amanda Seome (Shaka iLembe), and Vuyolwethu Biyela (Sibongile & The Dlaminis). Including pure stage magic with the Sibonelo Dance Project.

When banished heir Nkanyamba unexpectedly returns home, The Kingdom is threatened. His story is one of unresolved roots, personal reckoning, and the weight of a legacy that demands confrontation. This is not just a return. This is a reckoning. Will the King’s wisdom, restraint and unwavering belief in unity hold the kingdom together?

All of South Africa’s official languages, including Sign Language, and incorporating San languages, are celebrated. Each culture is honoured in its full splendour through sound, movement, costume and regalia, creating a grand visual and sonic tapestry that mirrors our shared humanity.

The final moments of this tale of love, power, betrayal, family and leadership dissolve the boundary between stage and seats, transforming the theatre into a shared space of song and joy. You do not simply watch THE KINGDOM OF UBUNTU; you become part of the exhilarating celebration of shared humanity.

So we rattled and bounced through 2025 like a skoroskoro with no suspension on a rural road in the Eastern Cape. By 26 December, our ears ringing, we screeched to a halt, burning more rubber than the Spin Outlaws at Cape Town’s Killarney Raceway.

And we sighed with relief.

Then came those fuzzy days around New Year when, as Michael McIntyre aptly observed, we lost all sense of reality, including where we were allowed to park.

Now the Vaalies who haven’t semigrated to the Mother City are back at work; only the harbour in Durban is busy (we hope), and predictions for 2026 are thick on the ground.

2026 may well be another potholed road that either knocks out your teeth or transports you to another dimension. But one thing is sure: customers will always respond to clear, informative communication that respects their busy, bombarded lives.

Meet people where they are. Communicate with authenticity and inclusion. Back it up with matchless customer service. Use the brilliant tools available, but never forget who ultimately pays our salaries.

Old-fashioned? No. Timeless? Yes.

A day of activism:

"On Friday, 21 November, South African women will silence the nation.

We call on all women and members of the LGBTQI+ community across South Africa to refrain from all paid and unpaid work in workplaces, universities, and homes, and to spend NO money for the entire day to demonstrate the economic and social impact of their absence. Because until South Africa stops burying a woman every 2.5 hours, the G20 cannot speak of growth and progress.

How Can You Participate?

On 21 November 2025, you can take part by doing one or more of the following:

👩‍🏭 Don’t work. No paid or unpaid labour.

💶 Don’t spend money and withdraw from the economy for one day.

⏰️ Join the 15-Minute Standstill by lying down for 15 minutes at 12 pm to honour the 15 women murdered every day and bring South Africa to a complete standstill.

🖤 Wear black to stand in mourning and resistance.
