Corporate Executive Profile: Besky Maluleka-Ngunjiri

Besky Maluleka(CIA) is currently the Chief Audit Executive at Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited , the largest gold mining company in South Africa.

She is an accomplished governance and assurance professional with over 20 years of work experience, predominantly in governance-related fields including internal controls (with a focus on cybersecurity), internal and external audit, risk management, forensic audits, and regulatory compliance. Her expertise spans regulatory frameworks such as the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Mining Charter, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Japanese Sarbanes-Oxley (J-SOX), and all versions of the King Code of Governance.

For the past 18 years, Besky has held leadership roles in internal audit, demonstrating consistent strategic oversight and the ability to lead high- performing, multidisciplinary teams across diverse geographies. Her international experience includes engagements in South Africa, various sub-Saharan African countries, the Middle East, India, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. Her sectoral exposure includes banking, chemicals, mining, and the public sector.
She is deeply passionate about governance and sustainability in both business and broader society, firmly believing in the importance of preserving tomorrow through responsible and ethical conduct today. This commitment has often positioned her to address injustices where necessary and to champion wisdom and sound judgment in decision-making.

Besky has made significant contributions to public sector governance since 2003, having served on various governance committees at municipal, provincial, and national levels. She brings a comprehensive understanding of PFMA and MFMA to these roles.
Currently, she serves as a non- executive director at the The Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIASA) and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Besky values family and faith. She is married to Christopher Ngunjiri, and together they are raising four children—Tiroentle, Obonye, Oatshela, and Binang. The family is devoted to worship and the service of Jesus Christ.

Corporate Executive Spotlight: Ncumisa Mkunqwana

Ncumisa has been the Chief Executive Officer at Chapu CA Inc. since the 1st of March 2024.Prior to her current role, she served as a Quality Assurance Director & Technical at the sameaudit firm from February 2023.

In this role, she was responsible for providing technical guidance to the team on new accounting and audit standards, quality assurance, and developing and maintaining the system of quality management of the firm as required by the International Standard on Quality Management (ISQM). She played a pivotal role in overseeing the internal firm-level review which is aimed at assessing the adequacy and implementation of ISQM within the firm. She was hugely responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the risk management processes as well as technical matters including technical training on staff members, effectively leading the audit team (Operational, Financial, and IT), and taking responsibility of the audit function at the firm.

The Women in Private Markets Connect 2024 event, hosted by SAVCA in collaboration with , African Women Impact Fund, and Riscura, took place on September 19th in Rosebank, Johannesburg. This dynamic event served as an empowering platform for women in private markets, finance, and investments to
connect, learn, and support one another. The afternoon kicked off with corporate MC, Zoya Mabuto-Mokoditoa, who warmly welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of stepping out of comfort zones to maximize networking opportunities.
