I think what i did has gone over some heads.
Kaista is one of my closest friends. We have been trolling eachother for years.
Im an artist, regardless of the medium i use.
Art is a mirror on society. It reflects who we are and how we interact with the world.
What i did was a comment on where afrikaans hip hop is at right now.
Yall so caught up in drama that all this beef has become like an episode of the kardashians. Accomplished artists posting screenshots and family photos to diss eachother. Instead of using their god-given talents and the resources they have to create music.
I think i proved that you can diss someone without being disrespectful.
Kaista and i laughed so hard at eachother on the phone yesterday afternoon.
Im not starting a career as a rapper. I was sick in bed for days and i was bored. I dont usually have the time to sit and write like that. I quit rapping before social media was invented.
Hip hop was the launchpad for my career as a filmmaker and writer. Hip hop goes far beyond rap music. Its a creative lifestyle that is supposed to teach us how to respect ourselves.
This is hip hop, not tik tok.
Use your creativity and your skills to defeat your opponent.
Kendrick didn’t win because he had more personal info on Drake. He built more complex and culturally relevant linguistic puzzles, and won on skill.
When Junior died how many artists and content creators felt horrible about the s**t they had said to him. I thought we would learn this lesson then but we didnt.
I hope, as a scene, we can grow up a little.
F**k all the drama. Make music.
