It’s almost 5AM and I’ve been awake for two hours because the mosquitoes around here are relentless..so I thought I might as well be productive and I started my work day. Which brings me to the point of this post.

When I started working from home full-time in August 2019, I loved the freedom it brought. Although some people didn’t seem to understand the concept at the time (they thought I was an ‘entrepreneur’ - code word for being unemployed but not knowing how to say it 🙄) most people I know started working from home a few months later and realised working from home is a thing 🙉

Today, I am really fed up with working from home. Mostly because I miss the social interaction that the workplace brings. But also because it’s difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Somehow, I always find myself back at my laptop working. Like right now 😩

If you are looking for something to keep you busy during the national lockdown - now is the time to update your cv. I've done a couple of cv's for myself and others over the years and I have read up on them a lot and done a bit of training on how to do them. So when I tell people that a one-page cv is best practice, they laugh 😄

I met with a recruiter in Stellenbosch a couple of months ago and she told me that she spends less than 2 minutes looking at a cv. That is one of the reasons why the three-page cv doesn't make it to the interview stage.

The length of your cv depends on your profession - academic cv's are long and detailed, similar to that of a CEO or Finance professional.

I won't say anything else because I will get laughed at 😅 and that's fine! But read this article and make an informed decision yourself 😎
