I have been involved in the development of the ‘Do It For The Story’ media brand - a sub-brand of Ten & Co. Founder, brand strategist, and storyteller, Tenley Voogt, understands that stories turn experiences, struggles, celebrations, and choices into a meaningful narrative. Stories are the way people reconcile their past, shape their identity, and move toward a life that genuinely feels like their own.

In business, stories shape how people understand a company’s purpose, values, and place in the world. A shared story guides decisions and aligns people around something greater than targets or transactions. It creates identity and emotional connection, helping customers understand what the business stands for and why it matters. When a company knows its story, it moves from simply operating, to expressing a clear sense of meaning that others can recognise and choose to be part of.

Next week Tenley will be presenting at the GWIB networking morning and these photos show the 'behind the scenes' part of the story - the packing pencil cases and old-school pencils for the guests. Tenley’s monthly ‘Do It For The Story’ newsletter is worth subscribing to, to gain insights on building brand stories and creating brand equity. Click on the link…

The brands that endure aren’t built for algorithms. They’re built beyond them.

200 million creators. Only 2% earn over $100k a year. Almost all of it flows through just four platforms: , , , and . This concentration creates a single point of failure. One change, a sudden policy shift, or even a geopolitical decision can wipe out a creator’s income overnight.

In other words, with over 200 million creators globally now relying on a handful of tech platforms for their income, their earnings are being controlled by algorithms and policies set by a few Silicon Valley giants.

We’ve seen this before. YouTube’s 2017 “Adpocalypse” left thousands of creators scrambling when brands pulled advertising over content moderation concerns. More recently, TikTok’s ownership by has triggered ban threats, forced sale discussions, and data privacy conflicts in the US and EU. For creators who have built their livelihoods on the platform, the message is clear: your audience is only yours until it isn’t.

But the risks go beyond individual incomes. When creators optimise for global algorithms - local traditions, languages, and stories often get diluted or lost in favour of what’s most “engaging” to a broad audience. There’s a larger question here about who controls the means of and economic production. Right now, that power sits with a few tech giants, with geopolitical tensions adding another layer of instability. Platforms like and weren’t just commercial ventures; they were actively promoted by governments as tools for “democracy promotion” and economic influence. The result? A system where a creator in Cape Town or Cardiff competes on terms set in Silicon Valley or Beijing.

While some creators are turning to alternatives like , , or direct audience support, the reality remains: the platforms still hold the power. Even these tools often rely on social media for discovery, leaving creators caught between dependence on algorithms and the challenge of building independent audiences.

Yet this isn’t just a story of exploitation. It’s also one of . Creator unions, like the American Influencer Council, are pushing for better labour protections and revenue transparency. Governments are starting to act too: the EU is exploring rules for follower data portability, while the US has discussed antitrust action against Meta and Google. The goal isn’t to reject the creator economy but to reshape it on fairer terms.

For brands and creators, the lesson is clear. The platforms offer reach, but they don’t offer security. The most resilient strategies focus on what you ‘own’: your , your list, your direct with an audience. The brands that last won’t be the ones that chase algorithms the hardest. They’ll be the ones that build something beyond them.

It’s getting hard to remember professional life before AI. It has moved from a "tech novelty" to an essential life skill. But here’s the secret: simply using AI isn’t the goal. The magic happens when you pair machine speed with a human-centered strategy.

As a solo agency, the biggest shift for me has been in content. Gone are the days of projects stalling for months waiting for copy. Now, I use AI to build high-quality frameworks in initial drafts, turning the "waiting game" into a collaborative sprint.

By letting AI handle the heavy lifting, I can spend more time on the "Why." I can stress-test ideas and find the soul of a project before the first pixel is even placed.

The Golden Rule: If your vision is blurry, AI will only add to the noise. You have to be intentional. You provide the soul; the AI provides the speed.

How are you using the "genie in the bottle" to improve your workflow? Let’s chat below. ↓

An annual report isn’t just numbers—it’s a story. For Community Chest’s 2025 report, we crafted a narrative that communicates their vision to stakeholders, shares their triumphs, and ignites commitment to their mission. The focus was on human connection, brought to life through colour and stunning photography by Cobus van Heerden. Every element was crafted to reflect their impact and inspire action.

In 2026, as "AI workslop" floods the internet, the most valuable skill isn't knowing how to prompt. It's knowing how to edit.

We’ve all seen it. The "rich tapestry" of words that says absolutely nothing. The incessant "delving" into "intricate landscapes." It’s the digital equivalent of beige wallpaper. Perfectly structured, yet soul-less.

When everyone has access to the same perfectly average output, human-centered communication becomes your greatest competitive advantage.

How to spot the "AI Accent"
Before you hit post or send, look for these common AI habits:

The Em Dash Obsession: LLMs adore that long horizontal line. They use it constantly to bridge ideas they don't know how to connect naturally. The Fix: Swap it for a comma, a period, or parentheses. Even a simple space-hyphen-space feels less pretentious and more conversational.

The "Rule of Three": Everything is "efficient, scalable, and innovative." Real life rarely happens in perfectly balanced triplets. Break the pattern.

The Vocabulary Loop: If you see words like delve, harness, leverage, or unlocking, your reader's "AI filter" is already turning on. Watch out for the "Dramatic Adjective" trap too. Real humans rarely describe a basic workflow as robust, seamless, or unparalleled.

The Polite Wrap-up: Humans stop when they’re done talking. AI insists on an "In summary..." or "Ultimately..." bow at the end of every thought. Delete it.

AI is a brilliant architect for your content skeleton. But it’s a terrible soul-writer. Use it to build the structure, then bring your own voice to the final edit.

I’m curious: what is the one "AI-ism" or habit that immediately makes you stop reading? Let me know in the comments.

PTS Solutions // A Systems-Driven Brand Evolution
This project involved the development of a comprehensive brand identity system, anchored by a definitive set of brand guidelines to serve as the organisation’s visual blueprint. The centerpiece of this evolution was a total reimagining of the PTS Solutions digital presence.
