Turns out, I paint better with bubbles 🥂🎨

Last night was a little bit of spring magic at Splodge . Watercolours, bubbles, plenty of giggles and a beautiful bunch of ladies. 🌸

We spent the evening learning the art of watercolour, experimenting with different painting techniques and then letting our creative juices flow as we created our own spring-inspired floral pieces.

We were asked to bring along a bottle of w**e, and I had a beautiful bottle of Graham Beck Bubbly Pinot Noir Rosé 2019 Vintage that had been gifted to me by Graham Beck, just waiting for the right occasion. 🥂 With it being Cap Classique Month, this felt like the perfect opportunity to open it. Because really, there was so much worth celebrating. A night with the girls, new friendships, creativity, spring, plenty of laughter and simply making the time to enjoy each other’s company. All the little things that remind us to celebrate what matters. ✨

Between the painting, chatting and laughing, the bottle disappeared before I even managed to properly capture that gorgeous pink hue in my glass, before we moved on to a little more Cap Classique to see us through the evening. 🌸🥂

There’s something really lovely about nights like this. Learning something new, getting creative, enjoying beautiful bubbles and simply spending time with the girls.

If this sounds like your kind of girls’ night, get in touch with Splodge directly to find out about their upcoming creative evenings and experiences. 🎨✨

W**e + Danish Liquorice? Hear Me Out… 🇩🇰🍷

Having married into a Danish family, liquorice has become something I’ve encountered perhaps a little more often than I ever expected! So when I discovered that Vergelegen W**e Estate had created a w**e pairing experience with Danish Lakrids By Bülow Southern Africa liquorice, I was immediately intrigued.

W**e and liquorice? I had to try it.

And what an exciting little journey it turned out to be.

There is something wonderfully Danish about the concept itself. Simple. Considered. Beautiful quality. Nothing trying too hard. A reminder that sometimes less really is more, and that when quality meets intention, you don’t need excess to create something exquisite.

That philosophy came through beautifully in the w**es, with their elegant structures and expressive bouquets anchored and amplified by the fruit, chocolate and liquorice elements of each pairing.

🥂 The Cap Classique paired with passionfruit brought its floral, bright and zesty character to life, creating a fresh and playful beginning.

🌸 The Florence Rosé with tart strawberry and white chocolate was almost whimsical. Delicate, pretty and unexpectedly enchanting.

🍷 And then the Merlot. A wonderfully decadent crescendo of dark, bitter salted chocolate and liquorice against the warmth and depth of the w**e. Serious, rich and completely moreish.

Three w**es. Three beautifully considered pairings. Nothing unnecessarily complicated.

Just good w**e, exceptional ingredients and the understanding that sometimes the simplest ideas, done exceptionally well, are the ones that make the biggest impression.

A little taste of Denmark in the Cape W**elands, and certainly one of the more intriguing w**e experiences I’ve tried recently.

Discovering De Krans Port-Style W**es 🍷

De Krans has long been recognised as one of South Africa’s leading producers of Port-Style W**es, and tasting the Cape Ruby, Cape Tawny and Cape Vintage side by side is the perfect way to appreciate the diversity of this unique w**e style.

The Cape Ruby is vibrant and fruit-driven, the Cape Tawny offers layers of caramel, toffee and nuttiness developed through ageing, while the Cape Vintage delivers rich dark fruit, cocoa and spice with impressive depth and structure.

One of the most interesting things about Port-Style W**e is that fermentation is stopped early by adding grape spirit, preserving natural sweetness while increasing the alcohol content.

And while South African producers can no longer use the word “Port” on their labels, w**eries like De Krans continue to craft exceptional Port-Style W**es using traditional Portuguese grape varieties and time-honoured w**emaking techniques.

Which De Krans Port-Style W**e would you choose: Cape Ruby, Cape Tawny or Cape Vintage?

Coffee + dark chocolate with Pinotage? 🍫☕️🍷
We had to try this!

A bold pairing for a bold w**e.
**es Granite Pinotage with coffee-rubbed T-bone and a dark chocolate red w**e reduction tested and approved by the whole family.

Watching my hubby and kids explore these flavours whilst helping me in the kitchen made it extra special. The coffee and chocolate amplified the w**e’s elegance in a way we genuinely didn’t expect; rich, layered, and beautifully balanced. (Don’t worry, the kids sipped on grape juice whilst we sipped the w**e…) 🍷

Everything sourced from (yes, including that R139 T Bone steak that fed all 4 of us). Proof that elevated, memorable meals don’t need a luxury price tag, just curiosity, good ingredients, and a great bottle of w**e.

👉 Comment Granite Pinotage and I’ll share the exact recipe. 😉
