During October, I had the honour of participating in the Travelling Africa lapdesk. This extremely versatile laptop desk has been travelling between female led businesses in and around South Africa over the past few months, each with their own story and experience.

If I may, I need to admit just how much this lapdesk changed my life in the short time I had to appreciate it. Being a mom of a toddler, I often setup my office wherever he is, most often in the most unworkable environments. Being over 6 months pregnant with what appears to be the spawn of an elephant, getting comfy in these environments has been rather challenging. This experiment definitely came at the right time for me.
 
Not only did the Africa lapdesk allow me to work comfortable on the couch, in bed and even outdoors on the grass, it gave me such inspiration for working seeing the names of the fellow ladies companies that had previously experienced this glorious tool. As you know, my business thrives on empowered women, and being a part of this experience really heightened my passion for the project.
 
I’m thankful for being offered this opportunity, to say the least.

To all the future ladies who have the honour of adding their name to the Africa lapdesk, I wish you a lifetime of success for your business. May you feel as inspired as I was during this time and may it be an experience you cherish forever. Not many people have the opportunity to be surrounded by so many inspirational, strong and highly motivated women, and I am so proud to be one of them. Keep on hustling!

Have you googled your business to check your Google reviews? Is your business even listed? Not sure, well here’s what you need to know.
 
Google requires you to register your website on the Google myBusiness platform. This is where you will verify your business, upload photos, link your website, setup your trading hours, contact details and so much more.
 
Once your profile is created, you should direct clients to review your business services in order to have a well rated business.
 
Why is this so important you ask?
Yes, you have a very active Facebook account with fantastic comments and ratings, so you think you’ve got it under control but the truth is, Google doesn’t rank you according to your FB reviews.
 
What do you do when you want to find a service in your area? Google. This is where up to 40% of your clients will find you. If you aren’t registered with Google myBusiness, you are loosing up to 40% of potential clients to competitors. Do you see the importance now?
