World AIDS Day 2025
Theme: “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.”
Today, we reflect on our collective progress against HIV — and the critical work still ahead. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist under the Ministry of Health, this theme deeply resonates with me.
The past years have shown how disruptions — from pandemics to supply shortages — can affect HIV testing, treatment monitoring, and prevention services. Yet they have also reminded us of the power of resilience, innovation, and community-centered care.
🔬 Laboratories remain the backbone of the HIV response.
Our work ensures:
• Accurate and timely HIV diagnosis
• Reliable viral load monitoring
• Early infant diagnosis
• Safe rollout of new tools like long-acting PrEP
• Quality assurance for all testing services
• Continuity of care even in the most challenging times
This year’s theme calls us not only to overcome disruption but to transform how we deliver HIV services — making them more resilient, more accessible, and more people-centered.
As we move forward, I remain committed to strengthening laboratory systems, supporting innovation, and ensuring that no individual or community is left behind.
Together, we can transform the AIDS response — one test, one patient, and one step at a time.
