Being a tech entrepreneur in Lusaka is not just about owning a laptop, knowing how to repair a phone, or having a business name.
It takes vision. It takes patience. It takes skills. And most importantly, it takes the courage to start. π
When I started looking at technology as a business, I realized something: Lusaka has opportunities everywhere, but opportunities don't come looking for you. You have to identify problems and create solutions.
As a tech entrepreneur, you need to:
π§ Master your skill β Customers trust you with expensive devices. Your work must speak for you.
π Keep learning β Technology changes every day. What you know today may not be enough tomorrow.
π€ Build trust β In business, your reputation is your biggest asset. One satisfied customer can bring five more.
π± Understand your market β Know what people in Lusaka actually need, what they can afford, and how you can make their lives easier.
π° Learn business, not just technology β Knowing how to fix a phone is one thing. Knowing how to price your service, manage money, market yourself and retain customers is another.
π Be willing to start small β You don't need a massive office to begin. Sometimes your first office is your backpack, your phone and your skills.
π₯ Be consistent β Some days you will get customers. Other days you won't. Some ideas will work. Others will fail. Keep improving.
πΏπ² Think beyond today β Don't only ask, βHow much can I make today?β Ask, βWhat am I building for the next 5β10 years?β
For me, CK TechFix is more than a phone repair business. It's the beginning of a bigger vision β building a technology service brand from Lusaka that can serve people across Zambia.
I'm still learning. I'm still building. I'm still making mistakes.
But I'm showing up every day.
Because every big company once started as a small idea in someone's mind.
