Lord, bless our families, our work, and everyone we meet today. Grant healing to the sick, comfort to the sorrowful, and hope to those who are discouraged. May we be instruments of Your love, kindness, and mercy wherever we go.

MPIKA DIOCESE ANNOUNCES PRIESTLY ORDINATION OF FIVE DEACONS

The Catholic Diocese of Mpika has officially announced the priestly ordination of five deacons who are set to be ordained to the Sacred Priesthood on Saturday, 11th July 2026.

In a memorandum dated 6th July 2026, Bishop Rt. Rev. Edwin M. Mulandu invited all priests, religious men and women, and the lay faithful to join in celebrating this important milestone in the life of the Diocese.

The deacons to be ordained are:

Dc. Chenda Simon
Dc. Kapembwa Julius
Dc. Mabo Kelvin
Dc. Mukuka Anthony
Dc. Yombwe Gershom

The ordination Mass will be held at St. Andrew's Parish beginning at 10:00 hours.
Bishop Mulandu has called upon the faithful to remember the ordinands in prayer, asking God to grant them faithful, humble and fruitful priestly ministries. He also encouraged parishes throughout the Diocese to include special intentions for the ordinands during the Prayer of the Faithful in the days leading up to the ordination.

The Bishop further expressed his hope that the Lord of the Harvest will continue to bless the Diocese of Mpika with abundant vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

ARCHBISHOP BENJAMIN PHIRI ENCOURAGES THE FAITHFUL TO SEEK GOD'S HEALING AND LIVE IN RECONCILIATION

Archbishop Benjamin Phiri of the Archdiocese of Ndola has called on Catholics to seek complete spiritual healing from God, emphasizing that only the Lord can restore wounded hearts and bring lasting peace.

Delivering his homily during Holy Mass on the second day of the Archdiocese's three-day Prayer gathering at Saint John Convent School Grounds, Archbishop Phiri reminded the faithful that while people may hurt one another in daily life, Christians are called to forgive, heal, and approach God with sincere and purified hearts.

He urged the faithful to open themselves to God's healing grace, explaining that a heart surrendered to God is transformed by His loving and gentle touch.

The three-day Prayer gathering has brought together priests, religious men and women, and hundreds of lay faithful from across the Archdiocese of Ndola. The event is being held under the theme: "Unity Through the Cross, Where Divisions Die and Faith Lives."

Several participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the spiritual programme, describing it as a time of renewal, prayer, and strengthening of their faith.

ECZ SUSPENDS NRPUP CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES IN KAPUTA CONSTITUENCY OVER ELECTORAL VIOLENCE

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has indefinitely suspended all campaign activities for the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) in Kaputa Constituency following incidents of political violence that reportedly resulted in the death of a member of another political party.

In a press statement issued on 3rd July 2026, the Commission said the suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in force pending a full review of the matter.

The ECZ also expressed deep concern over another fatal incident that occurred in Chivuna Village of Magoye East Constituency, Mazabuka District, where Mr. Stanley Sakala lost his life. The Commission said it is awaiting a conclusive report from the Zambia Police Service before determining the appropriate course of action.

The Commission noted with concern the increasing cases of electoral violence in some parts of the country and urged all political parties, candidates and their supporters to uphold peace, respect the Electoral Code of Conduct and conduct their campaigns responsibly ahead of the 13th August General Election.

ECZ further warned that it will not hesitate to invoke its powers under the Electoral Process (Amendment) Act No. 12 of 2026 against any political party or candidate found violating electoral laws.

RADIO ICENGELO TO MARK 30TH ANNIVERSARY WITH THANKSGIVING MASS LED BY ARCHBISHOP BENJAMIN PHIRI

Radio Icengelo is set to commemorate its 30th Anniversary with a special Thanksgiving Mass to be celebrated by Archbishop Benjamin Phiri.

The Eucharistic celebration will form part of the station's jubilee celebrations, marking three decades of Catholic broadcasting, evangelization and service to communities through faith-based programming and public information.

The anniversary Mass is expected to bring together members of the clergy, religious, staff, partners, listeners and well-wishers in thanksgiving to God for His guidance and blessings throughout the station's 30-year journey.

The celebration will also provide an opportunity to reflect on Radio Icengelo's contribution to proclaiming the Gospel, promoting peace, justice and human dignity, while strengthening the Church's mission through Catholic media.

The faithful and members of the public are encouraged to join the live celebration as Radio Icengelo gives thanks to God for three decades of faithful service and looks forward with renewed commitment to continuing its mission of evangelization.

ARCHBISHOP CHAMA URGES PRIESTS TO CHAMPION PEACE AS ZAMBIA HEADS TOWARDS GENERAL ELECTIONS

Archbishop of Kasama, Most Rev. Ignatius Chama, has appealed to Catholic priests serving in the Archdiocese to take a leading role in fostering peace, unity and responsible civic engagement as Zambia prepares for the 13th August General Elections.

Addressing members of the Kasama Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council during the official opening of their meeting at Moto Moto Pastoral Centre on Thursday, the Archbishop emphasized that priests have a vital pastoral responsibility to help maintain harmony in communities throughout the election period.

He acknowledged that election campaigns often bring political tensions and divisions, but stressed that the Church must remain a source of reconciliation and hope.

Archbishop Chama reminded the clergy that Zambians will soon elect the Republican President, Members of Parliament, Mayors, Council Chairpersons and Councillors. He encouraged priests to continue guiding the faithful to participate in the electoral process peacefully, responsibly and in accordance with Christian values.

He further challenged the priests to reflect on whether they are fully living up to their pastoral mission during this important national period, urging them to strengthen efforts that promote peace, justice and moral responsibility.

The Archbishop also called on priests to help Catholics make informed decisions guided by conscience while exercising their democratic rights with wisdom, freedom and integrity.

As President of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), Archbishop Chama encouraged members of the Presbyteral Council to seek God's guidance throughout their deliberations so that the resolutions reached would contribute to the growth of the Church and the well-being of the Archdiocese of Kasama.

Speaking on the purpose of the meeting, he explained that the Presbyteral Council exists not only to fulfil its statutory role but also to advise the Local Ordinary on matters affecting the pastoral life and mission of the Archdiocese. He urged members to deliberate honestly and wholeheartedly on the key issues before them and remain committed to implementing agreed resolutions.

Archbishop Chama also highlighted several upcoming events within the Archdiocese, including the Silver Jubilee celebration of Fr. Patrick Kateule's priestly ordination in Mbala. He described the occasion as a celebration of the shared priesthood of all the clergy serving in the Archdiocese.

He further announced that the Archdiocese will celebrate the ordination of new deacons in August, followed by priestly ordinations in September, noting that these celebrations will renew the Church's commitment to nurturing vocations and serving the People of God.

The Archbishop concluded by describing the Presbyteral Council as an important consultative body through which priests collaborate with the Archbishop in the governance and pastoral care of the Archdiocese, providing an opportunity to address challenges and strengthen the Church's mission.

A Presbyteral Council is an advisory body made up of priests who assist the Local Ordinary in matters concerning the governance and pastoral life of a Catholic Archdiocese or Diocese.

FR. NOEL CHEELO MUKOBOLA APPOINTED PAROCHIAL VICAR OF HOLY CROSS PARISH, MAAMBA

The Bishop of the Diocese of Monze, Rt. Rev. Raphael Mweempwa, has appointed newly ordained Father Noel Cheelo Mukobola as Parochial Vicar of Holy Cross Parish in Maamba.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, is among a number of priestly appointments and transfers made by the Diocese following this year's Priestly and Diaconate Ordinations.

According to a pastoral statement issued by Diocesan Chancellor Sister Chrisencia Twaambo Mkume and availed to the St. Ambrose Parish Media Team, Father Mukobola, who was ordained to the priesthood on June 28, 2026, at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Monze, becomes the first priest from St. Ambrose Parish to be ordained to the Catholic priesthood.

Meanwhile, Bishop Mweempwa has appointed newly ordained Father Orlando Nzoombe to serve at Mukasa Minor Seminary in Choma.

The Bishop has also transferred Father Clement Muyunda to Mater Dei Parish in Kalomo as Parochial Vicar, while Father Owen Choobe has been appointed Parochial Vicar at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Chilalantambo.

Tonight, I surrender all my worries, fears, and burdens into Your hands. Fill my heart with Your perfect peace and let my mind find rest in Your promises. Watch over my home and my loved ones. Surround us with Your holy angels and protect us throughout the night.

Grant us deep and refreshing sleep. Renew our strength, restore our bodies, and prepare us to wake up with joy, hope, and gratitude to serve You in a new day.
