UNITED PARTY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (UPND)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA
RESPONSE TO STATEMENT BY NRPUP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE BRIAN MUNDUBILE ON ALLEGED INCIDENT IN SOLWEZI
We have noted the statement issued by the National Restoration and Progressive Union Party (NRPUP) presidential candidate, Mr. Brian Mundubile, on his Facebook this afternoon, 30 July 2026, attempting to link President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND to an alleged altercation involving musicians in Solwezi.
The UPND wishes to place on record our unequivocal position regarding law enforcement, political violence, and campaign conduct as we approach the August 13th General Election:
President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND administration dismantled political cadreism and violence in public markets, bus stations, and communities across Zambia. That principle remains absolute.
• No Political Immunity: The UPND does not shield criminals. If any individual—whether a member of the UPND, NRPUP, or any other organization—engages in assault, political violence, or lawlessness, they must face the full force of the law.
• Call for Investigation: We urge the Zambia Police Service in Northwestern Province to conduct a thorough, swift, and impartial investigation into the reported Solwezi incident.
Mr. Mundubile asserts that his party possesses video footage identifying the alleged perpetrators.
If Mr. Mundubile is sincere about seeking justice rather than orchestrating a political stunt, we challenge him to immediately submit this unedited footage directly to the Zambia Police Service.
Using an alleged criminal incident as a political springboard before law enforcement completes its investigation is an attempt to prejudge the outcome and inflame political tensions ahead of the election.
The UPND government respects and protects the rights of all Zambians—including artists, musicians, and performers—to freely express themselves and associate with any political movement without fear of intimidation.
We categorically reject any attempt to drag the name of President Hakainde Hichilema into isolated field incidents. The President has consistently instructed all party structures and security agencies to maintain peace, order, and democratic discipline throughout this campaign.
As August 13th approaches, we urge Mr. Mundubile and the opposition to act responsibly and present a clear, realistic policy vision for Zambia, rather than relying on sensationalism, outrage, and cheap political posturing. Facing the overwhelming momentum of President Hichilema’s nationwide campaign, a panicked opposition has realized defeat is imminent and resorting to manufacturing lies and desperate tactics.
Zambia is a nation of laws. Let the Zambia Police execute their constitutional mandate without political interference or pressure.

One of the biggest fears for parents is not knowing when the next seizure may happen.

For families caring for a child with epilepsy, life can often feel unpredictable. A seizure can happen at school, during playtime, while sleeping, or even during everyday activities, leaving parents constantly worried about their child's safety and wellbeing.

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that causes recurrent seizures due to unusual electrical activity in the brain. While some children experience occasional seizures, others may require ongoing monitoring and treatment to help manage their condition.

One of the most important aspects of epilepsy care is ensuring seizure safety at home. Families often need guidance on creating a safe environment, recognizing seizure triggers, responding appropriately during a seizure, and knowing when to seek medical attention.

Medication adherence is also critical. Missing doses or taking medication inconsistently can increase the risk of seizures, making routine monitoring and support essential.

Despite the challenges, many children with epilepsy can enjoy school, friendships, sports, and other childhood activities. With the right care plan, support system, and medical guidance, children living with epilepsy can lead active and fulfilling lives.

At Prestige, we understand the concerns that come with caring for a child with epilepsy. Our home-based care services help families feel supported through professional monitoring, medication management, caregiver education, and compassionate care in the comfort of home.

Because every child deserves the freedom to learn, play, and grow with confidence.
