Steal like an artist.

Guess what? As provocative and intriguing stealing like an artist might sound, this reading has been an eye opener to create, to do, to do not wait and get started!

At the end, we are all artists!

Leadership starts with H!

Well, obviously not, but it is a good way to emphasize 4 leadership traits we need to master in today’s everchanging world, where the most rewarded skill should be our ability to go back to what is human, to our roots, to our bases.

Lead with:

🔹 Head: to have focus, discipline, and drive results.
🔹 Heart: to build trust, develop bonds, and build culture.
🔹 Hope: to inspire, to be positive and to belief goals will be attained.
🔹 Help: to be self-aware to ask for and offer help. To be present and not be afraid to be vulnerable.

… and manage all of that with harmony, too much of too little has impacts in the outcome.

At the end, balance also starts with H, as in leadership… 😊

Empathy is an ability that can be learned and taught.

Able leadership requires us to lead with empathy.

To better present my view about it, I put together these 10 abilities that I consider important, but not limited to, to master the empathetic leadership competence.

Like the French philosopher Michel de Montaigne said:

“I quote others only in order to better express myself”

I used quotes to better express my self, like Montaigne, with the hope that they help me to present to you my view, and to help you realizing the power of each ability.

Old Photos 📷

I've avoided for a while looking to old photos.

It has been a mix of fear of facing memories, good or bad, and bring back those emotions and the worry of realizing that time really flies and I’m getting older every day.  

I faced it. I went and looked to old photos, and it was a learning experience. 

I learned the following:

🔹 It is not always true that all the past time was better. If you live like that, you block yourself from LIVING NOW and living at your fullest. Today is the day!

🔹 It is important to remember where you are coming from. Old pictures help you to remind your journey and gives you strength to understand, that if back then was possible, today and tomorrow will be as well.

🔹 Friends and family are important but having connection with them is even more. Not just as a social media connection, or an old photo, but being present in their lives'. Make a phone call. Have a coffee. Go for a walk with them.

🔹 I am not getting older, I’m getting wiser to be brave enough to look at old photos and feel the emotions.

🔹 Photos are important, but more important is to live the moment, not thru the lens of your cellphone, and realizing one day, that you prevented yourself from living and experiencing the moment, just to capture a photo, that soon, will be just an old photo to looked at. 

Nothing more, nothing less.

- It is a great reminder that the fundamentals of life will never change & that we should continue being the guardians of them. Empathy, Love, Family, Faith, Service others, Inner personal growth and development…. They all prevail in a physical and digital world. The world is your venue, your market and the place to take care for our generation and those to come.

Food for thought…

Communication has a lot to do with food.

When you cook, as when you communicate, you need to consider many important factors like:

🔹 Who are your guests? (audience)
🔹 Type of food (communication format)
🔹 Preferences (what do they know, want to know, how they learn)
🔹 Allergies (what not to do/say)
🔹 The appetizer (compelling start)
🔹 The main course (the main message)
🔹 The dessert (conclusion and next steps)

Now, thinking about that, your communication style could be like:

🍛 Paella: Multiple ingredients. reach mixed flavors, lots of textures.
🍤 Surf & Turf: Two main ingredients (Lobster & Steak) with contrasting and complementing flavors.
🍣 Nigiri Sushi: Simple, yet reach rice base with a thin fish layer on top with a small piece of wasabi placed between the fish and the rice.

A lot to think about this - I prefer Nigiri Sushi style of communication, but the reality is that it depends in a lot of other factors.

Just think next time you cook or you communicate, what will be your style? Why?
