VISA RENEWAL DATES WITH CLARIFICATIONS:
Some clarifications on Visa status/cancellation of UAE residents when leaving the country.
Those expatriates, whose visa expired between Jan 1st and before Mar 1st, 2020 are included in the Amnesty and has to leave the country before 18th August, 2020. The amnesty also applies to visa law violators, if the violation took place before March 1.
Those visas expired after 1st March, 2020 gets automatically renewed until 31st December, 2020. For simple understanding of this, you can assume that the Expiry date mentioned in your stamped visa in your passport as 31-12-2020. They can exit/entry the country till 31st Dec, 2020.
Those expatriates whose employment visas are cancelled, are supposed to leave the country within 30 days of Labour cancellation. They could incur fines for overstay in the system. So those people should approach Immigration office (after obtaining the flight ticket) in Al Aweer (in case of Dubai Visas) before going to airport to make sure they do not have any overstay fines. If any fines, they could submit a request for waiving off the fines and obtain out pass at the same time. If they are not planning to travel before 18th August, then they should obtain a new visit visa, which is valid till 31st December, 2020 or change to another employment visa.
Those expatriates whose visa expired (and got automatic extension till Dec 31st) and do not wish to come back before 31st Dec, then it would be better to cancel the visa before exiting. Else they wouldn't be able to get a new visa after 31st December, 2020.
Those expatriates whose visas got expired before 1st Jan, 2020 and did not exit the country till now, may not be included in Amnesty. Hence it would be better to check in the immigration system before exiting the country. There are 3 checking stations in Dubai - Qhusais Police Station, Civil Aviation Security Center in Al Quds Street and Deportation center near Dubai Airport Terminal 2.
