But one of the most interesting Windows 11 features won’t be part of the launch on October 5. When the OS was first announced, Microsoft said that Windows 11 will have support for Android apps via the Amazon Appstore. However, Android app support wasn’t available in the original previews. Now, Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 Android apps support will not be there on its October 5 launch.

Microsoft revealed the latest development in a blog post. It announced the Windows 11 release date and confirmed the features that will be included. Unfortunately, support for Windows 11 Android apps isn’t one of those features. The announcement post said that the feature will arrive for Windows Insiders in the “coming months,” which doesn’t reveal an exact release date. Microsoft used the same terminology when it first announced the feature at Windows 11 launch. On the other hand, the company has fixated several times that it is going to bring Android app support to Windows 11 users later this year. However, it hasn’t announced any specifics yet.

Microsoft is going all-in with a new design for Windows 11. The latest OS comes with a clean design that features rounded corners with a centred Start menu and taskbar. However, if you want, you can customize the latter to appear on the usual left-hand side. Further, Windows 11 is moving to be more like macOS in terms of look and feel. While the widgets have been around for a while, they are now accessible directly from the taskbar. Moreover, you can personalise them with whatever you want.

Microsoft wants to take on Facetime and other video conferencing apps that are used for purposes other than work. Hence, the company is integrating Microsoft Teams to Windows 11 in a bid to offer a one-stop solution in messaging and video calls for users. You can now access Teams directly from the Windows 11 taskbar. Windows 11 also includes two new features for a better multitasking experience. It comes with Snap Groups and Snap Layouts, which is a collection of apps you are using simultaneously that sits in the taskbar. This can be fired up or minimised at once for easier multitasking. You can now also plug and unplug an extended monitor without issues.

Chrome users will receive updates more frequently in the future. Google announced on Thursday that it will now roll out future milestone releases that bring new features every four weeks. As of now, rolls out such milestone releases every six weeks. The change will come into effect with Chrome 94 in Q3 2021.

The option is for enterprise administrators and Chromium embedders who require relatively more time to manage the updates. The company further said that the security updates for Extendable Stable would be rolled out every two weeks to fix key issues.

“For users on OS, we also plan to support multiple stable release options. We’ll have more to share with Chrome OS administrators in the coming months about the choices you’ll have for milestone updates to your managed devices,” wrote Alex Mineer, Technical Program Manager, Chrome Operations in a post.

Engadget points out that the latest move brings Chrome in line with Mozilla’s Firefox, which offers a monthly update schedule since 2020.

Separately, is taking new measures to prevent websites and advertisers from tracking users through its Chrome browser. The company recently announced it would no longer track users through a separate set of identifiers. Instead, Google will offer “privacy-preserving APIs” that block individual tracking while offering results for advertisers and publishers. The move is said to be part of the company’s plans to phase out the support for third-party cooking on the browser completely.

“We’re making explicit that once third-party cookies are phased out, we will not build alternate identifiers to track individuals as they browse across the web, nor will we use them in our products,” David Temkin, Director of Product Management, Ads Privacy and Trust wrote in a blog post.
