The imprint period of kids that is 3 to 11 years of age is getting affected the most as this is the period in a kid’s lifecycle where they learn the most both in personal as well as educational life. These kids are losing those precious experiences that mould them as a student.

Viewing the change schools have begun the academic process of kids by shifting towards the online mode of education where books and examination papers are now replaced by presentations and google forms, seems like a normal classroom has shaped itself into a virtual room. Teachers have to start learning to handle kids in a way they never did, extra efforts are to be kept making them understand the concepts and clearing the doubts jumping in those delicate growing minds.

But a matter of fact it has many consequences as kids are getting distracted much easily, focus gets lost which sometimes lead to breakage of link in understanding the topics being taught. Not only this but students are coming from a family with low financial stability who have to suffer as they won’t be able to afford either a device to attend virtual classes or the high data consumption rates in this situation of a falling economy. In villages, many are asked to work at home rather than attending online classes, impacting the education of future citizens.

Efforts are being done by the government too, where the central government has launched the PM e-VIDYA platform to support the messed up situation which somewhere helping at its own good pace filling the gap between the rural and urban education in this situation. Many other issues are also being faced by these kids as well as their parents, as we know about the economic drop it becomes difficult as a parent to pay the fees for their kid’s education leading to many dropouts, Teachers are getting paid less.

Moreover, the fear of syllabus completion adds up to the problems faced by the teachers, students are getting mass promoted else end up with an online mode of examination where the results aren’t fair enough nor the process of writing a paper. Kids are perplexed by the changes in the academic results as well as a lack of understanding of the concepts explained in the face-to-face teaching system.

But, talking about the pros of this digital education has at least saved the education from getting stopped totally in this pandemic. There is a proverb “better something than nothing”. Taking it to a positive side of the room, It has transformed the conventional ways into the newer ones getting knowledge of the digital media. Teachers that weren’t using any social media platforms are now successfully taking video classes increasing the reach of teachers to a much-getter extend of students. Adding to it, students are also getting more exposure to new things to increase digitization in an entire world somewhere leading to much time saving and much more effectiveness. Nevertheless, its effect is different for different age groups so, efforts are expected to involve students in a way that prevents them from getting distracted much.

Some things are better the way we take. So in times of pandemic like this where online education mode work as a key keeping the academic at a moving pace then considering it as a new normal is the only option at least for now so considering it as a mandatory thing, it has to be taken potentially for good!
