A strong marketing campaign will connect you with the right customers, get people talking about your company, introduce your product or service to the media, and set up your business for financial success, however, Marketing mistakes can cost your business quite a lot in lost revenue and other expenses.

Top common Marketing mistakes to avoid them
1- Lack of Research and Testing (No Market Understanding)
2- Improper Focus and unclear Positioning (No clear STP, no product can do everything)
3- Marketing Without a clear USP and differentiation (me too product)
4- Lack of Focus on Potential Customers' Needs (one size fits all strategy)
5- Focusing only on either current customers or attracting new customers (capitalizing on current customers while attracting new customers is the key for growth)

Marketing mistakes happen, even with the best planning, marketing mistakes can still happen. If a marketing plan doesn't generate the response you want, take time to reflect on what might have gone wrong and how you can resolve and position your brand better.

Anchoring
What is Anchoring?
Anchoring Is a Type of Cognitive Bias, whereby an individual's decisions are influenced by a particular reference point or 'anchor'.
Once the value of the anchor is set, subsequent arguments, estimates, etc. made by an individual may change from what they would have otherwise been without the anchor.
People tend to rely on their first piece of information, and they can either decide too quickly and fail to shop for better prices or overlook other information, such as the quality of the product.

Which is an example of the cognitive bias of anchoring?
Anchoring bias occurs when people rely too much on pre-existing information or the first information they find when making decisions. For example, if you first see a T-shirt that costs $1,000 – then see a second one that costs $120 – you're prone to see the second shirt as cheap or vice versa.
Also it becomes clear in bargaining, when you are negotiating prices with someone where you need to reduce the price, he will tell that I have received many calls with higher prices and that he has almost agreed with someone, so you may think to increase the price to get the deal (especially if it is a good deal).

Many examples of anchoring are around us in marketing, negotiation, pricing…etc

RED OCEAN STRATEGY is about fighting where companies try to outperform their rivals to grab a greater share of existing demand. Market space gets crowded, profits & growth reduced leading to cutthroat or ‘bloody’ competition "red oceans":
Compete in existing market space
Beat the competition
Exploit existing demand
Make the value-cost trade-off

BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY is about creating and capturing uncontested market space, so making the competition irrelevant.
Create uncontested market space
Make the competition irrelevant
Create and capture new demand
Break the value-cost trade-off

Examples for blue ocean strategy: launch, launch, motors

Positioning refers to the place that a brand occupies in the minds of the customers and how it is distinguished from the products of the competitors.

A good positioning makes a product unique and makes the users consider using it as a distinct benefit to them.

But you can not position your brand based only on the competition and away from the customers needs and wants ... this is the fall that many marketers get into, ignoring the customer want in the equation.
