Can we be honest for a second?

Most people don’t need more ideas. They’re drowning in them.

What they actually need is clarity. The kind that makes you go, “oh… this is what I should be focusing on.”

No overcomplicated plans. No 47-step funnels. No trying to be everywhere at once.

Just a clear direction, simple next steps, and the confidence to actually move.

And that’s why it works.

If your business feels noisy, messy, or like you’re second-guessing everything… that’s your sign.

Send me a DM, we’ll sort it together 🤍

Most businesses don’t have a marketing problem…They have a strategy problem.

After 20+ years working across media, marketing, weddings, events and hospitality, I’ve seen one thing time and time again:

Growth doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from doing the right things, consistently.

I don’t focus on surface-level tactics. I look at the full 360 degree picture:

→ Your positioning
→ Your offering
→ Your customer journey
→ Your visibility across multiple touchpoints
→ Your partnerships, network and reputation

Real growth happens when everything is aligned, not just pretty content or the number of followers you have on social media.

If you’re (just a small example):

➡️ Busy but not scaling
➡️ Have loads of followers but no sales
➡️ Getting enquiries but not converting
➡️ Feeling unclear on your next move

You don’t need more noise…You need clarity and direction.

This is where I come in.

Comment “GROWTH” or DM me if you’re ready to build a business that actually works. Lets talk 🤍

Larger events may be pausing right now, but opportunities still exist.

✔️The key for event businesses is understanding where to focus next.

Across the region, many larger weddings, corporate productions, and major celebrations are being postponed as clients take a cautious approach.

For many event entrepreneurs, that creates very real concerns around cash flow, staff, and sustaining businesses in the short term.

But while large-scale events may be slowing temporarily, events themselves haven’t stopped, they’re simply shifting.

Right now we’re still seeing activity in areas such as:

• Smaller private celebrations
• Birthday gatherings (especially children's l/parents want to bring joy to their children)
• Smaller community events
• Retail activations (Only some locations/many have been affected)
• Smaller corporate gatherings
• Iftar/Eid activities

These events often require faster turnaround, flexible suppliers, and creative solutions.

For event businesses navigating this moment, a few practical shifts can help:

1️⃣ Focus on smaller, faster-moving events
These bookings often have shorter planning timelines and can help maintain cash flow.

2️⃣ Position your services beyond weddings
If weddings slow temporarily, look at where your expertise can apply to other verticals.

3️⃣ Highlight speed and flexibility
Clients planning events right now are looking for suppliers who can move quickly and adapt easily.

4️⃣ Strengthen your industry network
Relationships with fellow suppliers and event professionals, they become even more valuable during uncertain periods.

5️⃣ Attractive offers may be wise right now, as many will be cautious with spending.

6️⃣ Use down time to clean up websites, review your social media, tidy up files, brain storm content ideas, come up with international global offerings online. If you are a successful bridal boutique owner for example, maybe look into consulting for other boutiques online?

The events industry has always been one of the most resilient and adaptable industries in the world.

Over the past few days I’ve spoken with a number of wedding and event professionals across the UAE and the wider Middle East, and one sentiment keeps coming up again and again…

“This feels a little like COVID all over again.”

The uncertainty.

The quiet client messages asking “Should we wait and see?”

The first conversations about postponements.

For many of us, those memories from 2020 are still very close to the surface. Our industry went through one of the toughest periods it has ever faced, so it’s completely understandable if moments like this bring back some anxiety.

But it’s important to remember something:

Right now we are in a period of uncertainty, not certainty.
Some couples may pause. Some guests may reconsider travel. Some events may move dates.

But none of us can predict the outcome yet, and reacting from a place of panic rarely helps our businesses or our clients.

Instead, this is the moment to focus on what we can control:

• Communicating calmly with couples
• Reviewing contracts and postponement policies
• Keeping clear records of conversations and decisions
• Supporting each other as an industry

One thing COVID did show us is that the wedding and events community is incredibly resilient and adaptable.
If you’re a planner, venue, photographer, florist, stylist, caterer, entertainment provider or supplier navigating difficult conversations right now, you are not alone in this.

My DMs are open if you need advice or simply want to talk something through.

And over the coming days I’ll be sharing regular advice and guidance in my stories for wedding and event professionals on how to navigate this period as calmly and strategically as possible.

Take things one step at a time.

We’ve navigated uncertainty before, and we know how to do it again.

It’s so refreshing to see an awards programme that truly recognises the role media platforms and community play within our industry. I’m genuinely honoured to have been invited and nominated for this award as the Founder of and for our contribution to the wedding industry, especially within the UAE, and especially as it’s based on genuine merit, public voting and unbiased judging.

Voting opens in 2026, and I’ll share more when the time comes.

Huge congratulations to WEMA Global on launching the WEMA Circle Awards 2025, the first community-driven international awards for wedding professionals. An initiative that brings planners, venues, photographers, designers, hoteliers, press and media together in a transparent, open process.

Wishing everyone entering the very best of luck. ✨

I’ve secured press & media coverage for many of my consultancy clients and members across top magazines and publications. Even though I’m not a PR agency, I leverage my 20+ years in the media landscape to help my clients and community shine.

But here’s what I notice all too often.....many, don’t leverage that exposure to the max, thinking a quick share on Instagram will do the job.

Here’s how to really amplify your press features:

✔️ Share across ALL socials (and tag the publication).
✔️ Add to your website’s ‘As Seen In’ section.
✔️ Highlight in proposals & email signatures.
✔️ Repurpose into reels, carousels & stories.

& more....Swipe through my carousel for more tips...

Remember: PR is only powerful if you maximise it. Your features = credibility, trust & authority.

Want to learn how to make the most of your media features and build authority in the wedding industry? Join our community or DM me to book a 1-2-1 consultancy session 🌟

Brides are BUSY.

They’re working, juggling life, and planning one of the biggest days of their lives. So when you send one email and hear nothing back, don’t assume they’re not interested. Many are just overwhelmed.

💡 Research shows it can take 3–5 follow-ups before someone takes action or replies. Yet so many wedding pros stop after just one! SOME research EVEN suggests 12x!....I'm not sure I believe that one...seems a bit excessive.

And let me tell you this as a business owner myself: I appreciate a gentle follow-up. Not the pushy, aggressive kind, but a polite nudge that keeps you on my radar. Often, it’s the reminder I need to take the next step.

Couples are the same. Your follow-up could be the difference between a lost lead and a booked client.

📌 Want to refine your follow-up process and increase your bookings? Let’s get your sales strategy working for you. Drop me a message.

Commercial shoots and styled wedding shoots are NOT the same as REAL weddings!

Production teams and agencies should hire decorators and planners who truly understand the difference.

At Rhiannon Downie Hurst Consulting, I work with wedding industry professionals who know exactly how to navigate this distinction, helping avoid mishaps like the one I’ve just seen.

Because honestly… who on earth leaves a real cakes sitting under film set lighting for 12 hours during a shoot shoot for a commercial?

🚫 Nope. Just no.

Planners, what are your thoughts?
