I've been a big advocate of the Middle East and have witnessed how tourism and destinations, particularly, have been at the forefront of the GCC economy. It's incredible, to say the least. And Eid Mubarak to my network.
It's only fitting to share some light on my home country, South Africa, after an unforgettable 20-year Grey High School reunion with my peers. And while the country is at an interesting time, I can't help but fall in love again with the beautiful people and landscapes, and I'm glad everyone is safe and sound :)
A quick stat on South Africa: 8.9 million international arrivals in 2024. Domestic tourism is generating over R120 billion. Tourism is making up 8.8% of GDP. What is evident is the quality of travel interest, which is longer stays, remote working, meaningful experiences, and higher spending per visitor.
Think of road trips, mountains, oceans, dolphins, the big 5, citrus farms, wine, braai's (BBQs), surfing, music, sports, minerals, manufacturing, farming. Where do I end? That's nine provinces (regions), 60+ million people influencing culture, leading to economic growth. The wildlife, beaches, and resorts across South Africa are undeniably some of the most stunning you will ever see as well.
Check out Shamwari Private Game Reserve, Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve Kruger National Park to name a few.
Here's a cool tongue-in-cheek film by that fits perfectly with my post 😎
I’m continuing my short trip across South Africa - reconnecting with colleagues in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, and Durban. Feel free to reach out if you're keen to collaborate on growing your business or if you'd like to know anything about South Africa. I surely know a guy ;)
