From the very beginning, before the briefs piled up and the clients came in and the team grew into something real, there was a quieter ambition sitting underneath all of it. Not just to make things. But to find things. To locate the people, the practices, the pockets of culture that most platforms fly right past.

Two and a half years of building Black&Beige as a creative platform has been the necessary groundwork. Learning how to excavate before we ideate. Learning how to listen before we speak. Learning what it actually means to work from the Missing Middle, that space between the glossy and the grassroots, where most of the interesting stuff lives.

And now, we're finally ready to act on the intention we started with.

It starts with LOCATE.

Locate is a series by our team, a slow, deliberate effort to go out and find the cultural shapers who don't always make it onto the mood board. The practitioners, the makers, the communities sitting at the intersection of the old and the new. The people filling the Missing Middle without ever calling it that.

Each edition of Locate will bring back something, a conversation, a portrait, a practice, that adds to a growing body of collective knowledge. Not content for content's sake. But real discovery, the kind that changes how you see your work.

We've always believed that the most generative thing a creative platform can do is stay curious. Locate is us putting that belief into motion.
