🌿 Korup Forest: Africa’s Ancient Treasure, 60 Million Years Strong 🌿

Deep in the heart of Cameroon lies one of nature’s most extraordinary gifts to humanity — Korup National Park, home to Africa’s oldest rainforest, estimated to be an astonishing 60 million years old. Imagine walking through a forest that has stood tall since the age of the dinosaurs, surviving ice ages, storms, and human history itself. Every tree, every vine, and every bird’s song carries a story older than we can comprehend.

Korup isn’t just any rainforest — it’s a living museum of biodiversity. With over 600 species of trees, 400 species of birds, 160 species of mammals, and countless plants and insects that scientists are still discovering, it’s a reminder that the earth is full of mysteries yet to be unlocked. Some plants found here are used in modern medicine, proving that this forest doesn’t just preserve the past — it shapes our future.

Walking through Korup feels like stepping into another world: giant buttress-rooted trees rising sky-high, rivers weaving their way through dense greenery, and the echo of chimpanzees and hornbills filling the air. It is wild, raw, and breathtakingly beautiful.

But beyond its beauty, Korup teaches us resilience. Despite millions of years of change, it continues to thrive — a lesson to us all about the importance of patience, endurance, and protecting what matters most.

As Cameroonians and as Africans, Korup is not just a forest; it is part of our heritage and pride. Protecting it means safeguarding the lifeline of generations to come. 🌍💚

✨ Next time you hear about Korup, don’t just think of it as “a forest.” Think of it as a 60-million-year-old guardian of life, standing tall in Cameroon, reminding us that nature, when respected, lasts forever.
