Excelentes lentes!
There’s an old saying: the more things change, the more they stay the same. That is certainly true for eyewear fashion trends. Certain styles always reappear in an ever-continuing cycle. Those of us who have been in the industry for a long time have seen every trend come and go, and come back again! You may think this is only true for frames, but it's true for lenses too! Lenses for rimless frames, oversized lenses for oversized frames, faceted lenses, polished edges, the list goes on!
Gradient sunwear lenses are one of the mainstays of this cyclical pattern, and they have stronger “staying power” than most. It makes sense, because a lot of plano sunwear is sold in gradients. ECP’s want to be able to show off a style on their plano sunwear frame board and duplicate it with their patient's Rx Sunwear. In the past, if your patient wanted all the benefits of polarization, plus a gradient, you would have had to order a gray or brown polarized lens and add the gradient via a tinting process at the lab. This was a more difficult task than it would appear to be, since both lenses have to match perfectly. And let's be honest, tinting lenses has always been more of an art than a science!
